The Sixth Player of the Year opened up about her rollercoaster basketball career in a recent interview where she addressed her doubters who had a sharp eye on her career. She was misunderstood in terms of her capabilities due to her injury and age.
“Our age doesn’t define us,” says the champion. “I’m just trying to prove to myself that I’m still more than capable.” She had to miss a whole season due to her injury, and there were severe taunts thrown at her for her ability to bounce back. “I had people doubting after my injury if I was going to be the same player.”

Alysha braced herself to show them her capability, despite people commenting on her about her age. “I had people who were commenting on my age,” she says. “I’ve had people doubting me my whole career.”

Alysha has never before been selected as the Sixth Player of the Year. A player must have participated in more games as a substitute than as a starter in order to be eligible for the award. In 22.5 minutes per game, she averaged 6.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.
Without Chelsea Gray and Kiah Stokes, Alysha was the final hope for the Aces to fill the duties that Gray left in the middle.
