After a 40-game regular season that included many surprises for fans and teams, the WNBA playoffs finally began. The incumbent WNBA winners, the Las Vegas Aces began the defense of their crown earlier this week when they entertained the Chicago Sky at T-Mobile Arena. The summer signing of veteran and Chicago great Candace Parker has bolstered the Aces, who have been the team to beat all season. The Aces dominated the initial 40-game season, winning 36 of them and claiming the top seed for the Playoffs, while the Sky only made it into the postseason on the penultimate day.
The 30-year-old point guard for the Las Vegas Aces, A’Ja Wilson attained a new accomplishment, and the entire squad was thrilled about her triumph. Further, Wilson took to social media to express her appreciation for her teammate.
A new feat unlocked in the WNBA

The Chicago Sky and Las Vegas Aces collided as Dwyane Wade and Tom Brady were battling as minority owners behind the scenes. Despite strong fan support for Wade’s Sky, the Aces beat them in the first round of the playoffs.
A’ja Wilson, the season’s most anticipated MVP contender, recounted in her Instagram story?her monster victory, which she unlocked in 30 minutes, and explained why she is the most qualified candidate for consecutive MVPs.
She also lauded her teammate Chelsea Gray as she unlocked a new feat in her career. She shared a post by WNBA on another Instagram Story?as she wrote, “lol @cgray you tuff.”

Chelsea surpassed Tamika Catchings and moved to 7th on the all-time playoff assists list. The post was posted on WNBA’s official Instagram page and captioned, “She?s the PointGawddd for a reason??@cgray209 officially passes Tamika Catchings with 224 assists to move into 7th on the All-Time Playoff Assists List.”

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Aces, the top-seeded team, kicked off their WNBA playoff series with an 87-59 victory over the Chicago Sky.
Chicago Sky vs Las Vegas Aces: the first playoff
Chelsea Gray contributed 20 points and seven assists while Jackie Young added 18 points to lead the Aces. Kelsey Plum scored 16 points and A’ja Wilson had 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Alysha Clark also added 13 points to the Aces’ tally.

The next game of the best-of-three series will be hosted by the Aces who have won all four of their previous games against Chicago this year.
