Though Gabby Williams was known for her exceptional hooping skills, a craze developed during the Olympic Finals. Williams single-handedly brought France back into the game time and again with a 19-point performance. This led to a lot of fans showing love for Williams and also asking her to join the WNBA much like she had done previously. Seeing the new Williams fever, WNBA star Breanna Stewart got candid with the 27-year-old.
Williams had posted a snap on Instagram from the Olympics thanking the crowd for applauding her. “merci bercy,” Williams had captioned the post. After this, Stewie took to the social media networking site and commented on the picture “Love you so much I hate you.” And Stewie wasn’t the only WNBA star to feel so.

In fact, her Unrivaled League co-partner Napheesa Collier also took the opportunity to express her love for Williams with three hearts. Looks like Williams might be a pick for Unrivaled seeing her popularity surge throughout the Olympics.
In addition to the Finals, Williams averaged a decent 15.5 points with 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 steals per game through the Olympics. She led the French to their first Olympic women’s basketball finals since 2012. Even when they lost to the USA in the Finals, they scored 66 in response to the USA’s 67, which speaks volumes about France’s ability to play under intense pressure games, and that too against a country that had won seven consecutive Olympic Finals till then. Seeing this, a lot of WNBA stars were impressed by her talent.
The Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese had taken to the social media networking site X on Sunday to ask if Williams could make a comeback to the Chicago Sky. Williams who had played for the Sky from 2018-2021 was transferred to Los Angeles Sparks because as per the then head coach James Wade, Williams hadn’t made the Sky a “priority.” Indirectly referring to the same incident, Williams declined the offer to join Reese & Co. While Reese’s call might have been answered, there are other fans who are in awe of Williams’ game.
