Despite losing the third game in a row, the Indiana Fever have a silver lining. Apparently, their No.1 overall draft choice Caitlin Clark delivered a strong statement. Not only was she the best Indiana performer for the night, but her energy also inspired a competitive attitude that proved to be quite problematic for the Liberty. Following this, she reflected on her transition and her approach moving forward into the tournament.
Like on most occasions, the two-time national player of the year took center stage at the post-game media address. During this, one reporter wanted to know more about the aggressive attitude she applied very early in the game. Clark’s response was, “I thought I just came out and just played harder. I think that’s going to be my biggest focus going forward. Just compete and play hard. I thought our whole group did that.”

A sellout crowd of 17,735 at the Barclays Center witnessed a scintillating Caitlin Clark display in the opening quarter. She reached the double-digit mark in no time. Along with garnering 10 points and 3 assists, she was 4 of 5 in field goals and 2 of 3 from the three-point range by the end of the first 10 minutes. In the end, Clark’s eventual numbers turned out to be 22 points to go with 6 rebounds and 8 assists. This is a significant improvement considering the last time these two teams met, she ended up in single digits only.
Moreover, her first-half performance in this game outnumbered the stats she stacked in the previous two Eastern Conference fixtures.

Beast mode was on for Caitlin Clark before the game even reached its halfway point. Seemingly, in her first two games, she was able to register an average of 14.5 points. This was 15 when she took the court against the WNBA runner-up at half-time. Similarly, she was 7 of 23 in her field goals in both the games combined whereas it became 6 of 9 before halftime at the Barclays Center. Meanwhile, from beyond the arc, Clark converted her accuracy of 27.77% before Saturday to 50% by burying 3 out of her 6 attempts.
Clearly, the contest turned out to be the best game for Caitlin Clark. Further, the kind of fight she was able to put in front of the mighty Liberty speaks volumes of what she’s capable of. The ambitious Indiana fans will now count on her to use her individual brilliance to bring collective success to the franchise.
