Yet another loss! Coming off a loss against the Las Vegas Aces (95-83), Chicago Sky went neck to neck against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. As the teams reached the last few minutes of the game, all eyes were on Chicago Sky, who despite a talented roster, scored just five points. This resulted in a 70-62 which was the second consecutive loss for Sky. At the end of the matchup, all eyebrows were raised, seeking the responsible person behind the low scores, much like Sky’s coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

In the postgame media interaction, Teresa Weatherspoon opened up about Sunday’s loss. While digging deeper into the team’s roster, Weatherspoon said in the postgame presser, “She’s a conductor, she steers the ship very well. And no one knows like Lindsay about how the ball didn’t move in the fourth quarter.”

Weatherspoon mentioned Lindsay as “conductor” to highlight her playing position. Notably, Allen, who’s a new addition to Sky’s roster, plays as a point guard for the team. She responsibly handles the ball movement and the plays that should be made for the other players. However, as per the coach, in the last matchup no one knows it quite like Lindsay that the aforementioned things lacked in the game.

Hence, the low point contribution that Sky saw in the fourth quarter. Despite all this, Allen scored a decent 13 points and 6 rebounds in just 33 minutes. But all this went in vain as Sky witnessed a loss. Let’s have a look at Chicago Sky’s performance.

Chicago Sky’s poignant loss

Chicago Sky’s rookie aka ‘Chi-Town Barbie’, despite a loss, accomplished a massive feat. In fact, she recorded her tenth consecutive double-double in a single season as a rookie. By doing so, she became the first WNBA player in history to accomplish such a massive feat in a single season.

Reese, proving her on-court ability, knocked down two free throws in the 35 minutes she spent on the hardwood while Chennedy Carter, who led the team with an impressive 15 points. On the other hand, Lindsay Allen and Marina Mabrey scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. But, the major drawback for Weatherspoon’s squad was their shooting accuracy of 30.5%.

As of now, Allen averages 5.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Moving on, Chicago Sky is scheduled to face the Atlanta Dream in the upcoming matchup on July 2. Will Allen be able to prove herself in the next game by helping the team accumulate more points?
