The narrative that Christie Sides is not an ideal coach for the Indiana Fever is one of the worrying developments for the franchise this time around. From online petitions to continuous backlash, the 47-year-old has been at the receiving end of harsh scrutiny on how she’s handling Caitlin Clark and Co. But, it appears that amidst all this adversity, she receives some valuable advice. And, the aid is coming from none other than Fever’s GM Lin Dunn.
The 2x WNBA All-Star Game Head Coach appeared recently on the Locked On Women’s Basketball Podcast. Speaking her mind on a range of things, she spared a thought or two about Sides’ impact on Indiana. One of the segments includes the head coach still facing heavy criticism despite Indiana’s turnaround. Dunn went on and said, “I was really taken aback with some of the harsh comments that I’m seeing towards coaches.”
In the initial stages of the league, Indiana Fever’s campaign was going downhill. The first 10 games saw them ending on the winning side on just 2 occasions. Consequently, there was massive outrage among its supporters which led to demands for some monumental changes in the coaching staff. Regardless, the team bounced back from this predicament and is now looking favorite to make the playoffs. Still, there is a sense of dissatisfaction mongering among fans.

Then, Dunn continued and revealed what’s her mantra to deal with all such negativity. “We had to block out the noise. What’s happening on the outside does not matter. Especially by people who post things that you don’t even know them. If you don’t know that person, then it has no value. Only listen to people that you trust, you love and care about. And so all that other noise has got to be blocked out”.
At the time Christie Sides is receiving some negative light, it appears that her protege Caitlin Clark is ending up on the other side of things.
