Kelsey Plum's 'motherf**kers' message—Is this the fire the WNBA needs to gain more respect?

Game 2 is on and the Aces already had a blazing start. Making up for her not-so-dazzling display in Gam1, Kelsey Plum wiped the slate clean there in the first quarter itself. Dropped the game’s first bucket, Plum is the only vibe today as she came to conquer the floor. Her fiery message and intense playmaking against Seattle have grabbed the full attention of the WNBA realm.

After she drove past Nneka Ogwumike, Kelsey Plum made a two-dribble layup, turned to the crowd, and yelled, “Motherfu*kers.” She then ran down the court and made a 28-foot three-point jumper. Leaving the audience awestruck with her dominant layup, the 2x WNBA champ made it clear who rules the court which had got the fans going crazy on social media, reacting to her competitive spirit that was on full display.

Across 27 minutes on court in game 1, Plum had managed only 2 points for no rebounds and 2 assists. That was the worst of her games this season, having only ever recorded double-digits. She had missed all four of her 3-point attempts and seven of field goals.

So seeing her as a dominant force on the court today, fans are coming up with rather interesting reactions that can’t be left unnoticed.

“Came to erase Game 1,” fans witnessed Kelsey Plum’s redemption

In the playoff opener, Plum had an off night as she missed her first seven shots only to score her first in the last few minutes of the game. However, with today’s display, she stands redeemed. Out of her 29 points in the game, she scored 12 points in the first quarter of Game 2.

“After two horrible turnovers, Kelsey Plum scores a layup. Turns to the crowd and yells “MOTHERFU*KERS,” this is how a fan painted the picture of Kelsey Plum’s display in the first quarter, which seems apt as she stepped on the court and did just that, and gave a reality check to their opponents, scoring big for the team.

“This look like U Dub Kelsey Plum. She’s cookin,” wrote a fan reminiscing her scoring prowess from her college days. At that time, she was the Washington Huskies scoring machine who concluded her collegiate career as the all-time leading scorer in the NCAA with a record-setting 3527 points, which has been surpassed by the Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark in her senior season at Iowa. But Plum was a force regardless, and the fans saw that today once again.

Another fan looked stunned by her dominant display as they wrote, “Is Kelsey plum fr….now today she’s goin crazy,” while they recalled her Game 1 performance as “a hot pack of a–,” given her poor scoring.

Kelsey Plum was indeed, “talkin that talk,” as a fan put it, scoring a team-high 29 points through the game. The best part of her scores came in the first quarter itself. Despite multiple misses and turnovers, she kept on coming back and dropped buckets.

Plum indeed proved why she is the 2x WNBA champion. Hoping if she continues to perform like this through the playoffs, then it won’t be long after the Aces hit the bull’s eye with a three-peat.
