Standing at 1.73m tall and with an average of 18.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, All-Star MVP Kelsey Plum was the first pick of the WNBA draft in 2017 by the San Antonio Stars. In 2018 the San Antonio Stars relocated to Las Vegas, and the team was renamed the Las Vegas Aces.
In college, Plum set an all-time NCAA scoring record, surpassing the 3,000-point mark during her career at the University of Washington. Plum?s scoring ability has made her a known and respected figure in the world of basketball.
However, in the recent rivalry between the Aces and the Liberty, Plum takes a different stance.
In an interview right after their game with Liberty, the Aces star said, ?I say this with all respect, but I think it?s honestly the media (that) tries to make this out to be this crazy matchup.?
She further added, ?There?s a lot of really good teams in this league. We approach every game the same way, and we play the same way. We?re going to go out there and compete. It happened to be New York tonight, but for us, it doesn?t change who we are.?
?What are we doing, you know? And I get it. We have to create these narratives for the fans and for the media. At the same time, it’s like, Bro, this one game. No one?s winning the championship on this game.?
In Plum’s view, the media overstates the rivalry between the Aces and the Liberty, and she believes that every game should be approached with the same level of commitment and focus.
