Kate Martin is ranked 12th in the fan voting for the 2024 WNBA All-Star game. Despite it not being the ideal season for the 2x WNBA champions, the Aces have bounced back with a dominant 94-83 victory over the Seattle Storm. And all eyes were on the Aces’ rookie Kate Martin, who had one of her worst games, scoring zero points in her 10-minute underperformance. Despite this, she stands among the top 15 All-Stars and that did not sit too well with the WNBA fans.
Desert Wave Media shared the results of fan voting for the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix on their official X account. The rankings revealed A’ja Wilson was in the first spot with 217,773 votes, Caitlin Clark second with 216,427, and Aliyah Boston third with 171,684 votes.

Amongst all, the major attraction was Kate Martin on the list with 91, 565 votes that too above 2024 Paris Olympian Brittney Griner and rookie Kamilla Cardoso. For those unaware, Cardoso averages 8.5 points, and 6.5 rebounds per game whereas Griner features 21.4 points and 7 rebounds per game.
Both Cardoso and Griner are ranked below Martin with 75,513 points and 61,141 points, respectively. As spectators discovered Martin’s presence on the list, they were dismayed by the All-Star results. They immediately dived into the comment section to share their thoughts on Martin’s inclusion. Let’s see what they have to say.
Fans react to Martin’s ranking on the All-Star list
Despite Martin’s recent underperformance, she has been one of the most impressive rookies this season. She solidified her presence by being picked 18th overall in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Las Vegas Aces. “If you want to cite the overall popularity of this whole rookie class, Kate Martin’s 12th place should do it succinctly,” penned one fan.
As of now, she averages 4.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. However, all this isn’t enough to satisfy spectators, and naturally, her 12th position has led to criticism. “So what I’m hearing is Kate Martin is an All-Star,” wrote another spectator. On June 14th, Martin played for 9 minutes and recorded a zero, whereas on June 6th, she had her first zero in 14 minutes.
“CC and AB? Oh, I know, that’s right. But what business does Kate Martin have on this list? And these Olympians on the list are just crazy,” one spectator penned, hinting at the top 3’s impressive stats. Notably, Clark averages 16.3 points, and Boston features 12.7 points per game, whereas Martin’s stats are quite lower with a 4.0 PPG average.
“Kate Martin got how many All-Star votes?” added another. Until now, Martin’s highest playing time had been 32 minutes against the Los Angeles Sparks, where she accumulated 13 points. “Do you all see Kate Martin, dawg?” said another user, arguing Martin’s name on the list. But the users didn’t stop there; some even mocked Martin: “Y’all, my bad. I was voting for Kate Martin for all 4 guard positions,” the user grew defiant toward Martin.
While most netizens were frustrated with Kate’s 12th rank, some even appreciated her. “Something to keep an eye on: the Cameron Brink and Kate Martin fans. Cam is 11th, and Kate is currently 12th in the All-Star voting,” added an X user. Cameron Brink and Kate Martin’s spectators are celebrating consecutive ranks of their WNBA favorites.
