Is Caitlin Clark the new face of basketball, capturing hearts and breaking records simultaneously?

When the Wilson basketball company signed a deal with Caitlin Clark in May, it was a dream come true for her. Getting nostalgic at such a big opportunity, the point guard reminisced when she used to play with the Wilson balls in her driveway as a child. Thus, the brand not only had relevance for Clark but also became a favorite of the fans after they released basketball collections honoring the Des Moines-born.

Clark’s impact on the WNBA has been evident from the record attendance and viewership figures she drove during her rookie season. The idea of how big the Caitlin Clark brand has become was also witnessed when Wilson Sporting Goods’ new Inspire Series basketballs carrying Clark’s name sold in a mere 40 minutes. And in one of their latest release on Sunday, the company has once again ignited fans’ enthusiasm who are flocking online to grab the Clark merch.

On Sunday, Wilson Basketball announced the launch of new Clark-inspired basketballs for the “Journey Series.” The collection has two balls: the black “Every Point” and the white “Make Your Mark,” each designed to celebrate distinct aspects of Clark’s career. The “Every Point” black basketball is speckled dots, and according to the Wilson website, “it captures Clark’s shooting chart from her college career where she’s scored every point, with each dot symbolizing a colorway from Caitlin’s teams – high school to college to pro.”

Meanwhile, the “Make Your Mark” white basketball celebrates all of Clark’s achievements on the court. It is emboldened with block “CAITLIN CLARK” text throughout in the colors of Caitlin’s teams from high school to pro. According to the website, “this basketball is designed to commemorate the moments on each team that helped her make a mark at every level.”

Both balls are currently available on the Wilson’s website for $19.95. This marks the fourth collaboration of Clark with the $9 billion Amer Sports child company Wilson.

The series of collections started in May when Clark signed the deal. She released her four bestseller basketballs in July. Next, she had her Fever Rising collection in August. After that, Clark released her Inspire series which had two balls in different colors: Purple, blue, and mauve, and white, black, and yellow.

The Indiana Fever point guard has several records to her name this season including the most points by a rookie (769) and the most assists by a rookie (337), which inevitably led to her being named the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Her stature has continued to grow off the court with deals with high-profile brands such as Gatorade, Bose, State Farm, and many others.

As Wilson’s latest Clark collection hit the stores, the fans were once again quick to share their excitement suggesting another quick sell-out. This may have been helped by the fact that the WNBA star, shared the update about the launch on her Instagram story.
