From the day she was drafted as the 7th overall pick, Angel Reese has been advancing in the WNBA in her own right. Just a couple of hours ago, she became one of the two rookies on the All-Star team, standing seventh on the list with 381,518 votes. But this isn’t the only reason for celebration as Reese’s massive feat coincides with her agent’s special day.
Reese took to her official Instagram account on the occasion of her agent Jeanine Ogbonnaya’s birthday and posted a couple of pictures. Alongside the pictures, she penned, “Dirty 30, Happy Birthday to my favorite agent, manager, sister, auntie, friend all in oneeee! Thank you for changing my life three years ago. I wouldn’t be here without you. Love you, enjoy your day.” Touched by Reese’s wishes, Ogbonnaya replied, “The sister that I never had. I love you the most, my All-Star.”
Ogbonnaya and Reese share a bond that dates back to Reese’s time with the Maryland Terrapins. Since then, Ogbonnaya has been witnessing the 22-year-old’s success on and off the court. From being drafted as the seventh overall pick to being selected as an All-Star, Ogbonnaya deserves equal credit as Reese. However, Ogbonnaya isn’t the only person who shares a heartfelt bond with Reese.

Just like Ogbonnaya, her son Christopher Jr. loves Reese on the court. Earlier in April this year, an Instagram story wherein both Reese’s official account and the franchise’s account were tagged and Christopher Jr. extended his wishes. The picture posted saw him sporting a Chicago Sky t-shirt with the caption, “Happy 2nd day of camp, aunty,” reflecting his love for Reese. Moving on, Reese will now be teaming up with her arch-rival for a big matchup.
Rookie rivals turned teammates
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese became two rookie sensations on the All-Star team for the first time in the last decade. Now, both Reese and Clark will be playing together against the Team USA roster set for the Paris Olympics at Footprints Centre on July 20th.
Interestingly, Reese and Clark will be joined by Brionna Jones, Dearica Hamby, Arike Ogunbowale, Kayla McBride, Jonquel Jones, and Allisha Gray on the WNBA All-Star roster. Notably, all these players were selected according to votes by fans, current players, broadcasters, and sportswriting media.
Notably, Team USA is vying for their eighth consecutive gold in Paris next month. With the immense talent on the roster, including Diana Taurasi, Chelsea Gray, and Brittney Griner, Team USA versus the All-Star team is going to be a thrill. Which team will win? Comment down below!
