This past year has seen sports and music join hands like never before, especially where Taylor Swift is concerned. Although the world’s most famous pop star has been dating Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce since July 2023, their popularity rose even more this year. Throw in Caitlin Clark into the mix and you’ve got the recipe for successful headlines. However, Swift’s recent proposal to Clark has left Dave Portnoy a little miffed.

The owner of Barstool Sports, who is a self-proclaimed Swiftie, recently appeared on FOX Business with Stuart Varney. The host asked him at one point about Swift inviting the Indiana Fever star to watch a Chiefs game with her and Portnoy couldn’t hold in his emotions. “Yeah I’m jealous as he–, I’m jealous as he–. Is that what you want me to say? I’m jealous,” the businessman bursts out saying.

“I wanna be friends with both of them. I wanna get the invite to the front row and to both these concerts to schmooze and lock arm in arm and say, ‘Hey, Taylor! Hey, Caitlin! Nice to meet you, let’s all go out for dinner together and talk shop,'” Portnoy continues. Varney points out that Portnoy himself is not only famous but wealthy, not to mention his huge platform.

“I did get a handwritten letter from Taylor,” the entrepreneur reveals. “And Caitlin, I’m probably gonna play golf with her in a couple of months so I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.” Varney seems delighted on his behalf that there is a “developing relationship with these folks.

“Of course Stuart, I do all my stuff behind the scenes except when I talk about it with you on national TV,” Portnoy laughs. He had received a personal handwritten letter from Taylor Swift which thanked him for coming to an Eras Tour concert in October. “I’m so happy to have you at the show tonight!” Swift wrote on the card. “I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, and for having my back when a lot of people didn’t. I hope you have a blast tonight!! Love, Taylor.”

Although Portnoy didn’t get to meet Swift, he did meet her brother and mom. Much like Caitlin Clark!

Caitlin Clark hung out with Travis Kelcey and Andrea Swift

When Taylor Swift’s Eras Night Tour at Lucas Oil Stadium came closer, it was almost a given that Caitlin Clark would be in attendance. She had just been back at her alma mater to receive her NCAA Final Four rings, but the next weekend, it was time to go back to Indy.

Speaking to TIME magazine about it later, Clark revealed how the crowd’s reaction to her surprised her. “People are just going crazy that I’m there,” she said. “I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite.”

Although Clark attended two of the three nights, she unfortunately has not yet met Swift. But the singer-songwriter did reportedly send her four bags of Eras Tour merchandise with a note saying Clark was inspiring to watch from afar. And of course, that also included the invite to watch the Chiefs, of which CC just so happens to be a huge fan. Meeting Andrea Swift and Travis Kelce will have to do for now before she gets to meet the big boss woman herself!
