Can Isabelle Harrison fill the big shoes left by Angel Reese in the Chicago Sky squad?

Angel Reese’s injury certainly came at a crucial time for the Chicago Sky. The Sky are placed at the eighth spot in the league and were looking to hoop through the playoffs. However, Reese’s unexpected injury put their plans in jeopardy. To push through the momentum, their head coach Teresa Weatherspoon replaced the Chi-Town Barbie with forward Isabelle Harrison, who didn’t fail to live up to the expectations during the game against the Dallas Wings on Sunday. The 30-year-old was congratulated by the Sky rookie for her exceptional performance and she didn’t miss the opportunity to express her gratitude to Reese.

Reese had taken to X to congratulate Harrison by stating, “so proud of you Queen!!! @OMG_itsizzyb.” Reese’s comments had come after Harrison helped the Sky emerge victorious in the much-anticipated clash by a 92-77 margin. Harrison took her time to respond to Reese and wrote, “Thank you A!”

The Windy City residents were tensed as the Sky were in contention for the playoff spot with the Atlanta Dream, who are placed ninth in the WNBA list. However, Sunday’s game between the Sky and the Wings set things right for them, since the Sky took an unassailable lead of 33-19 in the first quarter itself. Going forward, the Wings tried their best to make a comeback but the Sky’s stars kept washing all hopes. Harrison did not let the T-Spoon-coached team miss the former NCAA Champion, as she scored 21 points with 9 rebounds. Looks like she was on her way to hitting a double-double in the first game that she has started this season.

The Sky’s usual starting five consisted of Lindsay Allen, Chennedy Carter, Diamond DeShields, Angel Reese, and Kamilla Cardoso. But after Reese’s injury, the squad had to change and Harrison was included in her place. And going from their first game without Reese, the Sky did not disappoint. This must have come off as a pleasant surprise for Reese, who must be prepared to cheer for her team from the sidelines.

Angel Reese gives the latest update on her injury

Reese after her wrist injury on Sunday came to the fore in a TikTok video to give the latest update to her fans. According to the 2023 NCAA Tournament MOP, she was presented with two options, either to decline surgery or to go ahead with it. The 22-year-old recounted that not having surgery meant that she could “have arthritis at 22 years old.” Hence, in order to save herself from the trouble, Reese would go under the knife on Tuesday.

Can Isabelle Harrison fill the big shoes left by Angel Reese in the Chicago Sky squad?

Have an interesting take?

Addressing questions about her comeback, Reese revealed that she would be “in a hard cast for four weeks,” and in a “soft cast for two weeks.” So according to her, she will be back to do her own thing in six weeks.

The Windy City loyalists would be happy to see Harrison get support from the new double-double queen. And hopefully, the Sky will be able to make the most of the situation in the absence of Reese.
