For three and a half weeks, the WNBA takes a back seat. A group of talented and experienced basketball athletes would perform perhaps the most significant national duty in Paris. This will be under the leadership of one of the most decorated head coaches-Cheryl Reeve. While a lot has been said about the professional brilliance of the 57-year-old, the financial state and net worth of the Minnesota Lynx and Team USA head coach also do her justice.
The Minnesota Lynx have rejoiced Cheryl Reeve’s presence in the family for 15 years now. During this time, the successful coach has not only turned the tide for the team but she has also brought in 4 World Championship titles. This year, the team started their campaign very strongly until the eastern semifinalists from last season took over. Still, they won the Commissioner’s Cup for the season. They are now heading into the second half of the 28th WNBA season with full force. For her amazing efforts, Glen Taylor, Alex Rodriguez, and Marc Lore, the owners of the team, have been more than happy to award in the same fashion as she has. Quite boldly!

The New Jersey native has been the head coach of the Lynx for 15 years. She has also been the general manager of the team for the past 5 years. Cheryl Reeve stands atop $6.69 million in net worth as well. These numbers are according to her social standings and searches on Google etc. Comparing her net worth this year to last year signifies a growth of $67,000 in value, as per peopleai.com.
Her latest contract with the team from 2022 promoted her from GM to the President of Basketball Operations. About continuing her career in the Twin City instead of considering other options like LA Sparks, Connecticut Sun, and Indiana Fever, Reeve had this to say, “Minnesota has been a great home to me and my family and I simply love being a part of the Twin Cities community. The Lynx fanbase is the best in all of the WNBA. I look forward to building on the successes we have had as an organization.”
With the new multi-year deal, her monthly paycheck brings $700,000 to her bank account annually. This marks an increment of a whopping $300,000 per annum to her salary compared to her very first agreement with the Lynx.

Certainly, she is making her mark not just as one of the most winning coaches in the WNBA but also for her apparent feud with the golden rookie of the Indiana Fever- Caitlin Clark. But she indeed is making a noise in the league.
A bang in the WNBA and the USA
Financially, Cheryl Reeve is moving towards the top of the league’s elites at her sweet pace. Her $700,000/annum makes her the third best-paid head coach in the WNBA. Curt Miller of the Los Angeles Sparks joins her with the same annual paycheck. Becky Hammon of the Las Vegas Aces, who won back-to-back WNBA championships, comes at the second spot. She earns $1 million/ year. The Phoenix Mercury’s latest head coach Nate Tibbetts takes the cake as the highest-paid WNBA coach. Mat Ishbia pays him $1.5 million/year.
Regarding wins, she has achieved impressive numbers. So far, Cheryl Reeve has accumulated 281 regular season and 41 playoff wins. Both compile for over .600 winning percentage. In turn, this also makes her the best coach in the WNBA’s history. For her relentless approach to adding to her teams, she has also been named as part of Team USA for several years now.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will mark her first such event as a head coach. But it will be her third Olympic as part of the coaching staff as she was an assistant coach under Geno Auriemma for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and Dawn Staley for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In December 2021, the committee announced Cheryl Reeve to be the head coach.
As the boss of Team USA, Cheryl Reeve won the gold medal in the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup held in Sydney, Australia. Now, she will be leading the team to their eighth consecutive Olympic gold. Already, they have won the friendly showcase game against Germany. The pre-Olympic game was held in London, UK.
