Today, again comes a day when all eyes will be on the court at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Indiana Fever will be waiting for the Chicago Sky and things are about to get interesting. It has been quite a while since Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark faced off in the Elite Eight during the 2024 March Madness, a game that had a record-breaking 12.3 million views. Till then, their matchup in the 2023 championship game held the record with 9.9 million viewers. Such has been their impact during their time in college. Now as WNBA professionals, Reese and Clark again find themselves in a similar situation. But who will be the commentators for what is expected to be an epic clash?

Filling more energy into the showdown, commentators Rebecca Lobo and Ryan Ruocco will be calling the game on the sidelines. While Reese and Clark remain the focal point of today’s conversation, Rebecca Lobo and Ryan Ruocco have some stories of their own.

Presenting the game play-by-play, Rebecca Lobo is the name that still shines in the WNBA. Having a career from 1997 to 2003, Lobo made instrumental contributions in carrying women’s basketball to what it is today. And no honor could be big enough for the rookies with Lobo donning the commentator’s hat for their game today.

Moving on, Lobo’s commentary partner will be Ryan Ruocco, who has been a sportscaster for TV and Radio since 2006. Simply put, Ruocco is one of ESPN’s play-by-play announcers for the NBA, WNBA, and women’s college basketball.

Similarly, he is an announcer for the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets on YES Network. In addition, he hosts the R2C2 podcast alongside CC Sabathia, former Yankees All-Star pitcher. Previously, Ruocco used to host the Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco Show on ESPN Radio. While the two rookies are gearing up for their first face-off, there is another rookie whose debut in the league has been long overdue.

Back from recovery, Kamilla Cardoso set to make her debut

Congratulations are in order for the Sky rookie Kamilla Cardos as she is expected to be in action tonight for her first game as a WNBA pro. It was in the preseason that Cardoso suffered an injury on her shoulder that has been keeping her from playing the first six games of the season.

However, her time has come. “We’re super excited to have her on the court. She’s excited to be back with a big smile on her face, and she puts a big smile on our face just because she’s out there and she’s pain-free. That’s the most important thing. So we’re looking forward to having her back out there,” said Sky Coach Teresa Weatherspoon, delighted about Cardoso’s return.

Tonight, the game will take an interesting turn, individually for Cardoso, as she will be facing her former teammate Aliyah Boston. For two years, Cardoso and Boston played shoulder-to-shoulder at South Carolina. As a result, their experience of each other will come in handy as they face off later today. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling matchup between the rookies who are taking the league to new pinnacles of success.
