“Every basketball player has an ankle injury. If you haven’t, you’re not a true baller…It’ll be stiff, but I’ll be good,” were Caitlin Clark‘s words after sustaining an injury during Indiana’s last week’s matchup against Connecticut. “It’s about what you’d expect when you turn it like that. I feel like I’ll definitely be ready to go and ready to play. Luckily I’ve dealt with some ankle injuries before so it’s nothing really out of the ordinary,” said a hobbled Caitlin Clark after losing to Connecticut. Yet, she toughened up and got Indiana its first win of the season.

So, it is no mystery that she will be playing tonight despite her ankle trouble going on. So, without losing much time, let’s dive into further details.

Yes, Caitlin Clark will play in tonight’s game against the Las Vegas Aces. There hasn’t been any indication from either Clark or the Indiana Fever that she won’t be playing. This means she is available and ready to play. This game will be Indiana’s 3rd road game in the last 4 days and 7th in the last 12 days. Had the situation been otherwise for Clark, it would have been a big-time stink for her fans in Las Vegas. Clinching her first victory of the season today, Caitlin Clark played through her recent injury.

Reportedly, she sustained an ankle injury when she fell painfully while running on defense against the Connecticut Sun last week. It was during the second quarter that she tweaked her left ankle. After being helped by her teammates, she painfully walked off the court and went straight to the locker room.

“I turned it pretty good. I think it just got caught. I don’t think I stepped on anybody… I don’t have the best ankles in the world, it was a little tight this morning, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I felt good, I just wanted to get a lot more tape on it as fast as I could,” said Clark.

Clark then returned to the court in the third quarter and finished her game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Now, taking a step back, Caitlin Clark has been a victim of huge negativity during her 5-game losing streak despite her relentless efforts and stellar performance. This struck a chord with Aces head coach, Becky Hammon as she candidly asked the trollers to back off!

Becky Hammon feels dearly for Clark

Clark’s prominence in the WNBA has been the center of attention for fans and media alike. However, not every opinion has done proper justice to her, making the Aces coach raise her voice to Clark’s praise and support.

“I think she’s amazing. I watched every time I possibly could, and our league loves her…We’re just doing our job. We’re gonna show up who is ever on the other team is on the other team, we don’t really care, we gonna show up and do us. And, so I think this narrative like everybody hating on Caitlin Clark and even the black and white thing, knock it off, it’s not there. So, shut down the noise and by the way…she is a 22-year-old woman with a lot of pressure, she’s not perfect, she is a rookie in this league, like backoff,” said Becky Hammon ahead of Fever’s matchup against Sparks.
