The Aces head coach, Becky Hammon, who has been vocal about the exclusion from its inception, may claim that Wilson should have received the 2023 WNBA MVP award over Stewart in the first place.

Wilson, who was named MVP in 2022, created a name for herself in the final series, helping the Aces upset the Liberty 3-1.
