The new docuseries ‘Full Court Press’ is out. Featuring top stars like Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso and Kiki Rice, the Peyton Manning brainchild is a full celebration of balling stars and their respective journeys. One such segment recounts the horrors of Cardoso when she failed to qualify for the Olympics and lost the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament that was held in Brazil. Post the match, Cardoso gave an interview feeling guilty for not being up to the mark. And fans empathized with her for the same.

The game took place in February this year between Brazil and Germany which saw two prominent stars Cardoso and Satou Sabally clash against each other. Cardoso did the unthinkable in a rag of fit that she later regretted.

Brazil was leading with a 66-63 tally on the road to go to Paris. Sabally in order to come nearer to Brazil tried to make a layup but fell down while striking with Cardoso, who later pushed Sabally from the back.

This led to a disqualifying foul, and Sabally was awarded two free throws. Sabally capitalized on the opportunity and scored points off both chances, coming as close as 66-65. In the next two minutes, Germany inched closer and then gave a trail to Brazil, winning the contest by a 73-71 margin. This made Cardoso feel guilty for the loss and she was emotional with tears shedding down her cheeks.

“That defeat was my fault. I should have stayed calm. I shouldn’t have pushed the girl. But I’m a human being. Like everyone, I am going to make mistakes. My nerves got the better of me and I did something wrong. But I think everyone fought until the last minute. And that’s it,” Cardoso stated as she left media attention.

There is no denying that Brazil fought till the last minute albeit in vain. While Damiris Dantas smashed 20 points, Tainá Paixao and Cardoso scored 19 each. For Germany, the highest scorer was Leonie Fiebich who smoked 22 points, and Sabally smashed 20. Therefore it was a level-headed match in which Germany had the last word and some part of it could be because Cardoso had to be out with a disqualifying foul. The documentary also explored Clark’s and Rice’s seasons.

The docuseries was conceived by Manning after a similar was shot with NFL players Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota throughout the 2022-23 season. Thankfully for fans when the same idea was presented to Clark, Rice, and Cardoso and the three agreed to capture their 2023-24 season on camera. The series apart from following them also gives a glimpse to their coaches, teammates and families. Thus it is a comprehensive view of the balling world. Manning also revealed in ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ that he “did a Zoom with her(Caitlin Clark)” and that’s where the idea received a stamp of approval from the player. Next, he onboarded Cardoso and Rice and the product is for all to see.

Cardoso hopefully would have gotten over the guilt now and will be looking forward to having a great WNBA season once she gets fit. Similarly, fans too would be enjoying their time watching the docuseries.
