As we know, the WNBA is quite different from the NCAA. Even women’s basketball icon Caitlin Clark is experiencing a shift in her playing style in the cash-rich league. The 22-year-old has played two preseason games and is adjusting to the changes while elevating her game. Clark was recently present in front of the media after her maiden preseason win over the Atlanta Dream. Reflecting on the changes in her game, Clark won hearts for playing her role to perfection without letting her ego come in between.
Clark played her second preseason game in front of a packed Indiana crowd and spoke at length about adjusting to the WNBA. Her reply floored all the fans.

Clark’s post-game conference was uploaded on the ‘TJ Sports Queen’ YouTube channel. The conference soon caught the eyeballs of a lot of fans. Clark spoke about her second fiddle role and how that has helped her team.
“I thought more than anything I did a really good job of passing the ball. Finding my teammates on…on open roles, slips, found Lou a couple of times for a couple of threes,” Clark stated.
Clark previously when playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes was their alpha player. She was so dominant with her points that she even surpassed the highest NCAA scorer Pete Maravich. However, since her arrival in the WNBA, scoring has taken a backseat for Clark. Though in her first game, she potted a game high of 21 points, in her next preseason match she could only gather 12. She also contributed in other areas with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Although, it remains to be seen if she will always be the second fiddle.
“Oh, yeah! It’s been great. It’s been great you know… like I said she spreads the floor for us. Coz you know a lot of people are going to just focus on her. So it gives us opportunities you know to just show everybody we can score the ball,” NaLyssa Smith opined.
Similarly, Smith also went ahead to praise Clark and how she has helped the team. There is no denying that when Clark takes the court, all eyes are on her. And as mentioned by Smith this can help the team since other players get the chance to make open spaces for themselves and score. This was demonstrated during their game against the Atlanta Dream when Clark could pot only 12 but Smith became the highest scorer of the game with 21 points.

“Yeah, I think it’s what I expected. You know I think the biggest thing for me is just like continue it… continuing to stack days and continue to learn. You know learned in the first game learned here but like I said the turnarounds quick. We’re going to play seven games in 12 days. You know we’re travelling, we’re on the road a lot so there’s no time to mess around. You better be ready to go but this is the challenge I signed up for and I’m excited,” mused Clark.
A second fiddle Clark also shared her take on a hectic schedule. Starting May 14, the Indiana Fever will play 7 games in a matter of 12 days. This can be tiring for players but instead, Clark might use it as an opportunity to better herself with every passing contest. Furthermore, as she said, the NCAA Queen is excited to play these games. This is one of the major adjustments she has made in the WNBA.

Clark will next be seen battling it out against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. This will be Clark’s WNBA debut game if she gets a chance to play. Going by her preseason games, there is a cent percent possibility that she will ply her trade. The games will start at 7 PM ET and will be a great opportunity for fans to witness their favorite stars.
Hopefully, Clark will keep adjusting to the WNBA like she has been doing and help the Indiana Fever win games by playing different roles for her team when needed.
