A heavyweight conference game is on the cards in the Western Conference on Saturday. Cameron Brink and the LA Sparks will take a trip to the Michelob ULTRA Arena to square off against the back-to-back champions, the Las Vegas Aces. As much as the players and the fans are excited about this contest, the game poses a series of challenges for the respective head coaches. One of those for LA Spark’s Curt Miller is how to contain the 2× WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.
The practice sessions for the visitors are in full flow before they take on this uphill task. During this, the 55-year-old opened up about how the rookies are planning to deal with the offensive prowess of A’ja Wilson. Miller said on Inside The Wubble YouTube channel, “We just try to make it as difficult as possible and A’ja’s going to score. she’s going to score on everybody at times. So, not to be discouraged. Try to get to the next play.”
The challenge for Cameron Brink and Co. will be to deal with the versatility that A’ja Wilson brings to the table. Along with her exceptional rim running, the 27-year-old can score at all levels. In addition to this, the kind of energy that Wilson showcases throughout the game is instrumental in providing the Aces an upper hand in any contest. Thus, for the likes of Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, it is essential that they can match it.

Who doesn’t want to witness A’ja Wilson live in action? Perhaps this is the reason why the defending champions have successfully sold out 15 out of their 20 home games which is the highest in WNBA history. The remaining 5 occasions when anyone can avail of the tickets are Tuesday against the Phoenix Mercury, Aug. 30 against the Atlanta Dream, Sept. 15 against the Connecticut Sun, and Sept. 19 against the Dallas Wings. Further, the Sept. 3 encounter at T-Mobile Arena against the Chicago Sky also provides a chance for the fans to see Las Vegas in action. This is after they set a team attendance record at Michelob Ultra Arena on Tuesday night in the regular season opener against the Mercury. Apparently, a sellout crowd of 10,419 was present for this match-up.
There is no denying that it will be an enthralling game. Facing A’ja Wilson and Co. will be an extremely difficult task for the Sparks in Western Conference games. Still, LA can produce a miraculous night as they are not short of potential match-winners in their squad.
