The Indiana Fever’s rise to success has been fueled by a combination of youthful talent and veteran leadership. And she will be returning for another year!

While Caitlin Clark played a pivotal role in guiding the Fever to their first postseason appearance since 2016, the heart and soul of their success was none other than Kelsey Mitchell! The seasoned guard, who’s spent her entire career with the Fever since being selected No. 2 in the 2018 draft. She teamed up with Clark to form one of the most lethal and efficient backcourt duos in the league, each averaging above 19 points per game.

Amid growing speculation about Kelsey Mitchell’s future as she became eligible for free agency. Fever fans were holding their breath, hoping for the duo to stay intact and continue their dominance. Well, those prayers have been answered! The Indiana Fever have officially confirmed the re-signing of Mitchell.

President of Basketball and Business Operations Kelly Krauskopf, who drafted Mitchell in 2018 expressed her delight at getting her to sign a new deal. She said, “Kelsey has been a foundation of our franchise for many years, and we are thrilled to see her return to the Fever.” “We value Kelsey’s commitment to our organization, and we’re excited to see her build off a phenomenal 2024, her best season yet. She is one of the best guards in this league and is a cornerstone to building a championship roster.”

Kelsey who will be returning for her eighth season has been the top scorer for the Fever in 5 of her previous 7 seasons with the franchise. Last season in particular was a good one for her as she played 38 out of the 40 games in the regular season while averaging 19.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Her signing was a priority for the franchise as stressed by Kelly herself.

Clark and Mitchell led the scoring while Boston dominated the paint with 14 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds per game last season. With Caitlin and Aliyah still in their rookie deals, this gives the Fever an opportunity to run it back next season and make a deep playoff run!
