A’ja Wilson has lately been promoting her recent release “Dear Black Girls: How To Be True To You.” The book, which launched yesterday on 6th February 2024, gives us an inside peek into Wilson’s personal life and struggles. Additionally, the book talks about what it means to be a Black woman in America. More so, it also has some advice that she wants to share.

Currently, the Aces star is giving various interviews regarding her book before the beginning of the new WNBA season. While doing so, Wilson made sure she had some special titbits for the viewers and readers.

A’ja Wilson gives an insight into her debut book

The enigmatic power forward of the Las Vegas Aces recently had a one-on-one interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. Following this, A’ja Wilson dived deep into what her book is about. In her words, “It is like a journal. It is hard for dyslexic kids to read so made it easy by writing it like that.” She then lightened up the stage by humorously mentioning, “I Know! The dyslexic kid who hated to read is now an author! Crazy!”

The TV broadcaster also praised the book by saying, “It was like reading a dear diary.” When Roberts asked Wilson about her challenges with dyslexia she said, “I always say run your race at your own pace. That is the biggest thing I wanted to get across. You’re okay to learn a little late.” As a Black woman in America, A’ja dealt with her fair share of roadblocks. However, she talks about everything from her childhood to the present times, and how she coped with them.

Even through all the challenges she faced, A’ja has risen like a phoenix from the ashes. Now, she wants other girls to never back down as well.

Wilson has a message for all, her focus is on grace

Wilson, to drive home her take, gave everyone a heartfelt piece of advice, “Give yourself some grace. In this life, we get hit with a lot of different things and we see a lot of things on social that we want to do. But at the end of the day give yourself some grace. Know that you wake up and you’re winning. Heal, love one another, and be kind,” said the WNBA star.

Wilson has jotted down the ups and downs in her life very aptly in the book. It, undeniably, takes courage to speak about these issues and share wisdom to let others learn from your lessons. A’ja is winning in both aspects. We cannot wait to get our hands on the book and learn more about the impeccable hooper.
