There have been many woman ballers over the years who have revolutionized the professional world of basketball. But, if there is one superstar whose charisma has transcended across generations, that would be the Aces’ forward A’ja Wilson. Inspiring a back-to-back title run for the Las Vegas Aces, the 27-year-old has left a lasting impression on the sport. Moreover, the qualities she possesses as an athlete serve as a reminder of what a generational talent she is. And Aces’ minority owner Tom Brady approves.

According to the legendary quarterback, Wilson can be termed as the main driving force behind the Aces being a successful franchise in the WNBA. He elaborated on it further in his Time magazine essay.

The five-time Super Bowl MVP wrote, “This rare blend has propelled her to achieve remarkable feats in her career. With two WNBA championships with the Las Vegas Aces, three WNBA MVP awards, an NCAA title at the University of South Carolina, and even an Olympic gold medal, A’ja is undeniably a generational talent.”

Wilson’s talent and skills have rightfully justified her inclusion in the Times’ list of THE 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE OF 2024 recently. A’ja’s drive to be the best in what she does has transformed her into a fierce and fearless competitor. This has indeed helped her achieve phenomenal heights in such a short period of time. Perhaps this is the reason the seven-time Super Bowl champion and one of the co-owners of the Aces, Brady, describes her as “an inspiration to all who witness her talent and drive.”

There is so much more that qualifies Wilson for this elite list.

Why is the iconic No.22 a worthy inclusion?

The journey from the backyards of Columbia, South Carolina, which has seen many ups and downs but is still going strong, has truly personified her greatness. Not only this, but the way she has fought her way through dyslexia to become an ambassador of the game speaks volumes about her passion and determination. There is no denying that A’ja Wilson has qualified herself as one of the greatest to ever step onto the basketball court, with so much to still come.

To be included in the elite list which has the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Siya Kolisi, Max Verstappen and Jenni Hermoso is truly an honor for the basketball fraternity. Also, the fact that this list has no NBA player makes this feat more memorable.
