Despite being born in Sparks, Nevada, Gabby Williams carries the essence of both American and French culture in her genes as she was raised by an American father, Mattew Williams, and a French mother, Therese Williams.

Williams grew up in Nevada as her father’s athletic roots belonged there, given he played basketball for the University of Nevada from 1988-92. As for her mother, Therese, is behind Williams’ immersion in the French culture.

Williams also has an extended family residing in France and she shares a close bond with them. That’s one of the key factors behind Williams speaking French so fluently. But, she is not Matthew and Therese’s only child. Williams has 4 other siblings, two sisters – Kayla and Omarri, and two brothers – Matthew and Dominic.

Following in their father’s footsteps, Williams’ older sister Kayla also played basketball at the University of Nevada from 2008-12 on a collegiate level. It was her father and sister’s hooping skills that inspired Williams to pursue the sport in the first place.

Although a handful of siblings, there is no doubt Williams has been her father’s favorite.

Has Williams’ been a special child in the family?

She grew up having a great rhythm with both her parents, especially her father. Since her birth, Williams etched her father’s heart in a special way. Earlier this year, Williams shared some pictures on one of her Instagram posts which featured a heart-touching picture of her father’s hospital bracelet from the time when she was born.

The picture was a handwritten note from her father that said, “Daddy didn’t take his bracelet off for about 2 weeks. It was a reminder of that wonderful day you were born. It finally broke off!” Above the note was the bracelet that was given to Mattew, fastened with scotch tape.
