Angel Reese is not just flaring up the floor with her continuous double-digit performance but also the internet. Apparently, after the transformation from ‘Bayou Barbie’ to the ‘Chi-Town Barbie’, the Sky rookie has metamorphosed into the ‘League Barbie.’ Her popularity is on the rise as she continues to ink her name on more records in her rookie year. But one thing that her fans want for her is the highest award for the freshers. Ditching Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and other talents of the 2024 WNBA draft class, the Reese fans chant her name for the Rookie of the Year Award.
Taking it to her official X account, Angel Reese shared various shots of herself. But to everyone’s amusement, her caption took all the attention. Claiming her new name, she wrote, “league BARBIE.” The series of photos showed her in the zone while practicing and talking to the media.

Surely, the ‘Chi-Town Barbie’ has made quite some headlines in her very first few WNBA games. Recently, in Chicago’s loss to the Seattle Storm, she grabbed her double-double. In that game, she made 11 points and 12 rebounds in 30 minutes of floor time. Not just this, she has been on top of her offense and defense. Currently, Angel Reese is averaging 12 points and 8.6 rebounds per clip. Following her on-the-court and off-court theatrics, her fans can’t help but be in awe of the rookie.
Fans go crazy as they put Angel Reese in some big shoes
There is no ceiling to how much the fans can love Angel Reese. Hence, when she acclaimed her latest name, the news going viral and gaining traction was simply undeniable. A few of the followers could not help but comment on how instead of just a Barbie, she is also a beast. Truly, one of the most captivating features that Angel Reese possesses is how to turn her enmity on and off. A fan also talked about how she is both fine and also uses her mind on the floor to beat her enemies. However, they were also quick to remind her to stay kind.
“More like Beast Mode Barbie”
“U Bought That Fine N Mind! Don’t Hurt Em! Do Yo Thing! & Don’t B Nice ! BUT U B KIND Victory & Peace.”
Another X user and a fan of Angel Reese said that she is their forever favorite. They also mentioned her name alongside Sha’Carri Richardson, who is also eating all the bread and leaving no crumb behind. The two ladies also stand for their unapologetic behavior. Moreover, both Richardson and the Sky rookie are well-known for keeping their looks on point, even when going against their respective opponents.
“It’s Angel and Shacarri forever”
Angel Reese is also quickly improving her numbers and stat lines to top the charts in every position. One that she is going for is the Rookie of the Year. Andraya Carter of ESPN recently named the 6-ft-3 forward her “Rookie of the Week.” Seems like the next feat to achieve is to turn that week into a year. Surely, her double-digit performance in every outing and quick transformation into the pro leagues can boost her case.
“Future rookie of the year!”

Although Angel Reese has mentioned that one of the GOATs, she wants to meet is the Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, her fans want something else for her. But it is quite close. They are drawing a parallel between the 22-year-old hooper and the rebounding legend Dennis Rodman. He too was known for his brilliant defensive tactics and rebounding excellence. In fact, one of the biggest reasons why he became a part of the Bulls was his ability to handle the ball. This is exactly the skill that Angel Reese is showing in the league. But can she be really compared to one of the best?
“Looks like Barbie, rebounds like Rodman”
After giving her fans a great reason to shop her merch, Angel Reese has given them another name to call her. It will be interesting to see if, with the evolution of her name, her skills also evolve. For now, Teresa Weatherspoon‘s rookie is doing just fine with the Sky proceeding into the 2024 season with a 2-3 win-loss record.
