Teresa Weatherspoon’s Chicago Sky is not having a great run. With its third straight loss coming against the league’s worst team, the head coach is seemingly getting impatient. The frustration boiled over during the post-game press conference after the Washington Mystics defeated them 83-81. She eventually left the table in anger after a question about her strategy for upcoming games was asked. Interestingly, their next game is against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever. Their first meeting was not pleasant at all and attracted a lot of negative press after Chennedy Carter hip-checked the Fever rookie. No wonder the press is hungry for some answers for their rematch tomorrow.
The reporter from Zoom asked her if there were any changes that she would like to make in her strategies after a disappointing 3-game losing streak. This question came just one day before the Sky will travel to Indianapolis to lock horns with Angel Reese’s NCAA rival Caitlin Clark. Weatherspoon was clearly irked by the question and slammed her hands on the table before abruptly ending the interview.
Earlier, T-spoon did answer about their weak defense and shooting. Reflecting on her pregame comments that the key to winning is an early lead, she said, “Starts on both ends. We’re a team on defensive ends first. Defensive stops, offensive runs. So, it starts there, of course. More so than anywhere.”

Apparently, the head coach was already annoyed with the type of questions the reporters were asking. Moreover, the team’s subpar performance may also have gotten on the coach’s nerves.
Looking at Chicago’s run vs Mystics before their next game vs Caitlin Clark
On Friday night, Chicago did not make any buckets in the first 4+ minutes of the game. Simultaneously, the Mystics took a 9-0 early lead. Adding more to the rather solemn mood was the Sky’s poor performance from the free throw line. Overall, the team made 17 of 25 free throw attempts, going for just 68% for the night. The biggest shock came when Marina Mabrey, who has been shooting 83% from the stripe this season, missed her chance to force the game into an OT. Contrastingly, the Mystics made 19 of 23 free throws with 82.6% accuracy.
Another shocker came when Lindsay Allen missed a 25-foot three-point jumper with the Sky down 2. She could have passed the ball to Angel Reese, who was standing under the rim, unprotected. This, too sent the fans into a spiral mode as they believe the team apparently ‘failed’ the rookie.
In the game, Chicago never took a lead while the hosts led by as much as 15 points. In their last meeting, while Reese’s team had the highest lead of 9 points, their impressive rebounding rate and steals brought them the win. However, the Mystics successfully avenged their Commissioner’s Cup loss at home.

Next, the team will hop on the charter plane to Indianapolis. While the Fever began the season on a low note, they are beginning to find their feet, despite the record not showing it. They are already coming from a good win over the Atlanta Dreams and Caitlin Clark may have the confidence to take down Angel Reese once again. Only time can tell if the Chi-Town Barbie will show out again or if the first overall pick will give her another reality check.
