The Las Vegas Aces are having a dreadful time in their quest for a three-peat in the 2024 edition of the WNBA. Seemingly, for the third consecutive night the back-to-back champions ended up on the losing side. The turn of events is now slowly reflected in the team’s behavior on the court. An example of that was displayed by the team’s No.10 Kelsey Plum.

To the surprise of 10,368 people present at the Michelob ULTRA Arena, the hosts were trailing 17 points at the brink of the third quarter. At this time, Kelsey Plum sneaked past the defense and was about to score a cheeky 5-foot driving layup. However, she was stopped in her tracks courtesy of a stunning block by the Minnesota Lynx shooting guard Natisha Hiedeman.

Following this, she let Plum know about her unsuccessful endeavor. The 2× WNBA All-Star also didn’t back down as she charged toward Hiedeman soon after. Anyhow, both these fiery competitors were then separated by fellow players as well as the officials present.

The referees, Amy Bonner, Angelica Suffren, and Gerda Gatling saw it fitting to issue a double technical foul against both. Eventually, Las Vegas went on to lose the game 100-86 despite dominating the final quarter. Whereas for the visiting Minnesota, all their 5 starters ended the night grabbing a double-digit score, making history as the only WNBA team to record such numbers.

The fixture was somewhat decent for Kelsey Plum as she was among the pick of the scorers.

The 5 ft 8 in point guard was the second-best performer for the Aces after A’ja Wilson’s 28 points and 8 rebounds. Her 35 minutes on the hardwood produced 13 points and 4 assists along with 2 defensive rebounds. In addition to this, she was 4 of 13 in her field goals and connected 27.27% (3 of 11) of her attempts from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, she could only convert 2 out of her 4 free throws and had 3 personal fouls next to her name.

Apart from her and Wilson, none of the other starters register a double-digit number. It was No.17 Megan Gustafson and shooting guard Tiffany Hayes who contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively in the end.

The struggle continues to go on for Kelsey Plum and Co. With this loss, they have now had a 50% win-loss ratio until now. Moreover, their road to the Commissioner Cup title will be an uphill task from now on. Fans will hope they get their season back on track soon.
