“In the end experience triumphs.” While there are a lot of eyes on Caitlin Clark, the Las Vegas Aces leader A’ja Wilson is showing the world who the real boss is. Since the start of the season, Wilson has been dropping exceptional points and breaking record after record. In her most recent game against the Phoenix Mercury, Wilson smoked 32 points and became the first WNBA regular season player to have 25 or more points in 8 consecutive games.

But her feat is just the tip of the iceberg. Wilson also has numerous other records to her name that make her the unchallenged WNBA Queen. Today, we dive in deeper to check Wilson’s ever-growing achievement list.

Wilson who was famous throughout her college career for her blocks has stopped a basket in 18 back-to-back games which again is a WNBA record to her name. Wilson in a recent game against the Sparks recorded 6 blocks. Thus, Wilson was quite close to breaking one of her records of 7 blocks in a game.

Previously in the games against the Dallas Wings, Wilson nabbed 6 steals which is a career-high for her. Not only as an individual player, Wilson has been quite effective as a leader too. The Aces rookie Kate Martin has been all praises for the 27-year-old. Martin stated that Wilson is the best player in the world and is also a great leader. “I’m sitting next to the best player in the world, And not only is she the best player in the world, she’s the best leader I’ve ever been around…she brings people together. She has so much confidence in every single person on our team.”

In the absence of Chelsea Gray, Wilson has given her all. In the present season, she averages a whopping 28.6 points in the game and the way she has been playing it only seems to increase. During her previous season, Wilson set her personal record of a career-high average of 22.8 points per game.

If she continues to take the onus of the team like she has been doing then there is no stopping her. She might set a career record in points average this season and though this is just the start of the 2024 WNBA who knows she might redeem herself for not bagging the MVP award last year- something she was also furious about.

A’ja Wilson and her list of firsts

Not only this Wilson also smoked 100+points and 50+ rebounds in 4 games which makes her the first WNBA star to accomplish such stats. Plus, she also crossed 1000 free throws in only 193 games which makes her the fastest player to do so. With this, she left behind Angel McCoughtry and Breanna Stewart.

Plus, in May during her game against the Minnesota Lynx, Wilson became the first star to have 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in 5 back-to-back games. Thus, she trumped Sylvia Fowles who had a four-game double-double streak. Interestingly, Fowles had recorded 2 such streaks, and the way Wilson is going it is not far when she too will beat such a streak one more time.

Apart from that during the game against the Wings Wilson smashed an exceptional 36 points with 14 rebounds and 6 steals. Thus, she became the first women athlete to have at least 35 points and 10 rebounds with 5 steals in a singular WNBA game. But that is not all. As the other WNBA players go on with their day-to-day practice, Wilson sits in the locker room determined to break a flurry of records.

A’ja Wilson and her upcoming achievements

Leaping to the all-time scorer list- As for this season, Wilson has a number of records that she can cross. Wilson is positioned at the 46th spot as the all-time women’s points leader in the WNBA. She can cross Rebekkah Brunson, Courtney Vandersloot, and Yolanda Griffith quite easily. If she performs well like she has been doing, then Wilson can land herself a spot in the top 40. The 40th player is Plenmett Pierson who has 4258 points. Wilson can easily up her ante and trail the 40th player.

Leading scorer this season and also the most points in a singular season- Furthermore, Wilson currently has 315 points in the regular season and almost a quarter of the season has finished. If she continues her on-song performances, then she can end up as the leading scorer for this season something she missed last year when she was overtaken by Jewell Loyd who had smoked 939 points while Wilson had 912 points. Thus, she can also break the record for the most points in a singular season over the years. Loyd holds that record for her brilliant display last season as she trumped Taurasi’s 860.

The fastest player to cross the 4500 points mark- Wilson when she smashed 4000 points was behind Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart. She can also inch to the 4500 mark and become one of the fastest players to reach the milestone. Wilson has played 200 games and scored 4076 points, whereas Stewart has been a part of 236 games and reached 4888 points. A quick affair from Wilson could make her reach the 4500 landmarks as one of the fastest players.

Most rebounds in a singular season- Another record that Wilson can break is the most rebounds in a singular season. Currently, Fowles has the record to her name with 404 rebounds. She nabbed them while playing for Minnesota in 2018. Wilson has seized 129 rebounds this season. Last year, she missed breaking the record as she grabbed 380. Hopefully, this season Wilson will break Fowles’s record and register her name in it.

Therefore, Wilson has a lot to look forward to, and if she continues her on-court brilliance, she will not only grow in stature but also register her name in golden words in the record books for times immemorial. Her fans would be wishing her luck and would also excited to see her in her beast mode in the games ahead.
