A’ja Wilson and the Aces’ offseason has been a tough one, with some key losses shaking up their roster. Losing star guard Kelsey Plum, Sixth Woman of the Year Tiffany Hayes, and Kate Martin, it’s been a challenging few months for the 2022 and 2023 WNBA champions.

After their heartbreaking semifinal exit to the eventual champs New York Liberty, Aces fans were hoping for big changes in the trade window. While they landed Storm guard Jewell Loyd, it came at the cost of star guard Kelsey Plum. Adding to the blow, Tiffany Hayes and Kate Martin joined former assistant coach Natalie Nakase at the Golden State Valkyries. With nearly $1 million of their cap tied up to four players, the Aces had to get creative to make their next moves.

And so they did! The Aces have signed Cheyenne Parker-Tyus to a one-year deal. The 2023 All-Star will join the squad on a training camp contract, which means a vet minimum contract valued at $78,831, according to Alexa Philippou. This is a major boost for the Aces, who were looking very thin in the front court with the injury to Elizabeth Kitley.

As mentioned earlier with the injury of Elizabeth Kitley and the uncertain future of Alysha Clark, the Aces desperately needed to strengthen their frontcourt and this deal seems to have done it!

Fans wasted no time welcoming CPT as one took to X, saying, “Welcome CPT🥳🥳.” Another fan couldn’t hold back their excitement, sharing, “One thing I’m gonna do is overreact. 😭🤣But I couldn’t take much more loss. Welcome CPT 😎❤️.”While Aces fans are buzzing with excitement over Parker-Tyus, it’s important to note that the former Atlanta forward played just 25 games last season due to an ankle issue. With star forward Kitley still recovering from an ACL injury, the Aces will need to be extra cautious with CPT, who’ll be turning 33 this year!

Despite the concerns, the frontcourt duo of A’ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA MVP, and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus is sure to be a thrilling spectacle. Both are dominant forces in the paint and elite defenders, and fans know that this pair, if healthy, can shut down any offense in the league. One fan couldn’t contain their excitement, saying, “A’ja Wilson and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus in the frontcourt will be something to watch this season!”
