Diana Taurasi seems to be getting better every year, despite age not being on her side. This season too, with the twilight of her forty-second year gazing her right in the eyes, she has continued to impress everyone. Previously, her former coach Sandy Brondello appreciated her skills. Now, it is Cameron Brink’s veteran teammate, who spent a couple of years with Phoenix’s GOAT, talking about her stellar performance against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Sparks ended their 3-game road trip with a second loss at the hands of the veteran team in Phoenix. Despite an 87-68 flushing defeat, Kia Nurse could not help but applaud the 41-year-old WNBA’s all-time leading scorer. She said, “It’s not surprising. I mean, I played with Diana for two years. If you are around her, you see how she works on and off the court both in season and off the season. She plays at a high level. She plays with the ultimate confidence obviously. The ultimate green light gets her shot off as quick as possible.”

The Canadian hooper also appreciated the team and added, “They do a good job of putting her in situations where she can find a sliver of space and knock it down. She deserves a ton of respect. To be able to do what she’s doing at her age is extremely impressive. Still playing at a really high level.”

On Sunday night, Diana Taurasi grabbed a season-high 31 points by making 9 of 14 shots from the field and 7 of 9 from the 3-point line. The 3x WNBA champion also added to the defense with 2 rebounds along with 2 steals. Moreover, the veteran had such a great night that she totaled 35% of the team’s final points tonight. But it was a cold night for Cameron Brink.

Foul troubles continue to haunt Cameron Brink

One of the biggest issues in drafting Cameron Brink in the 2024 draft was that she has a knack for being a foul magnet. While head coach Curt Miller wanted to work on it, looks like the issue has been swept under the rug until the offseason. In every game so far, Brink has picked an average of 4.3 personal fouls per game. Consequently, Miller is unable to keep her on the court for longer than an average of 24.6 minutes per game.

Last night, Brink continued her cold streak on offense as she added just 6 points in 26 minutes of play. She was a disappointing -17 on the night. In the last three games, she has only added 5.3 points per game. On the other hand, her combined average is 8.8 ppg.

Nevertheless, Cameron Brink is doing efficiently with her defensive abilities. After leading the league in blocks in the first week, she has stepped down the throne and is averaging 2.6 blocks per game. However, the team can certainly use her good scoring as well, especially in front of immaculate players like Diana Taurasi.
