Over the years, the NBA 2K brand has had trouble faithfully reproducing the looks of different players. It may often be difficult to keep up with these changes and preserve accurate player likenesses because the game has annual upgrades and new players enter the league each season. The recent addition of the WNBA to the game has served no purpose, as we still remember how Lexie Brown from the Los Angeles Sparks ran a lashing rant on Twitter criticizing her horrendous game appearance. It was a bold move by Lexie to voice her disappointment, and it has led to great changes as the WNBA directly went into action to seek justice for its players.
A recent WNBPA Twitter post specifically referencing the NBA2K on their incident shows the strong commitment to how WNBPA will not allow injustice against them.
A strong warning from the side of the WNBA

Visual Concepts has been publishing the NBA 2K series of basketball sports simulation video games since 1999. The series’ basic concept is to replicate basketball, namely the NBA. Following the WNBA’s widespread popularity this season, the NBA 2K24 series opted to include it in their lineup, a decision that they may regret right now. The NBA 2K 24 was published on September 8, 2023, with a huge roster to compensate. The reaction was not what was expected after the release since the female avatars were inadequately caricatured and made. Lexie Brown was the first athlete to speak out against the inaccurate portrayal of her.
DEAR @NBA2K:
IT'S SATURDAY MORNING, SO WE'LL GET RIGHT TO THE POINT.
YOU HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING WITH THE AMAZING, DYNAMIC, STRONG, UNRELENTING, BADASS WOMEN OF THE W.
ACT LIKE IT.
BE BETTER.#BetOnWomen pic.twitter.com/ck9o0dXBXw— WNBPA (@TheWNBPA) October 7, 2023
The WNBPA has taken the issues in hand and reviewed all the misinterpreted women’s entities as they posted a tweet on their official Twitter handle with all the images of female players who are horribly represented, including Aliyah Boston, as they wrote, “DEAR @NBA2K: IT’S SATURDAY MORNING, SO WE’LL GET RIGHT TO THE POINT. YOU HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF WORKING WITH THE AMAZING, DYNAMIC, STRONG, UNRELENTING, BADASS WOMEN OF THE W. ACT LIKE IT. BE BETTER.”
We hear you, @TheWNBPA. We aren’t where we should be. We know we can do better and are committed to continued action and moving forward with you.

To which the NBA 2K replied in an apologetic way, as they have acknowledged the error from their side, they wrote on their Twitter handle, “We hear you, @TheWNBPA. We aren?t where we should be. We know we can do better and are committed to continued action and moving forward with you.”

Lexie Brown’s bold statement
Lexie Brown was selected ninth overall by the Connecticut Sun in 2018. She was later moved to the Minnesota Lynx before joining the Los Angeles Sparks. Due to sickness, she was unable to play much this season and was made to sit out on the bench until late August. She made headlines recently, not because of her performance but because of the way she stood up for herself against the poor representation of her image in the 2K 24 video game.
Lexie Brown’s character appeared bald, which surprised the player. She then went on a big tirade on Twitter, claiming, “Just leave us out of the game if you don’t even want to try; y’all should at least look at me.” However, as soon as Lexie’s video became popular online, the gaming producer contacted her and made the necessary improvements.
