Following her captivity, when the 2014 WNBA champion announced her comeback, her fans grinned. But it turns out that Brittney Griner’s much-anticipated return to court was a great celebration for the USA.
Griner’s activity was absent from the WNBA for the whole 2022 season. Drug accusations and ten-month incarceration in Russia kept her off the hardwood and American soil. But now she has returned to Team USA for undergoing training camp in Atlanta from November 7-9 and playing exhibition games against Tennessee on November 5 and Duke on November 12.

USA Basketball has all been elated and uploaded their Twitter page with a video of her back to practice, as they wrote, “Number 15 returns. Welcome back to the #USABWNT@brittneygriner!” It is noteworthy that no one has worn the No. 15 jersey at the FIBA World Cup in order to honor Griner.
In the practice video, fans could see how relieved she was to be back in her homeland and represent America. She said, “Back to the USA, back to basketball; it feels so good.” The press met during her training session. Her coach also added that Britney Griner was more excited to play basketball than ever after the hard times that haunted everyone.

Brittney Griner, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, was released from prison on December 8 in a prisoner exchange with the United States after being imprisoned in Russia since February on drug-related accusations. She was sentenced to nine years in jail in August after being found guilty of attempting to bring illegal substances into Russia.
President Biden stated during a press conference on December 8 that Griner was on an aircraft and would return home the next day. “Today is just a happy day,” Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, said at the news conference. Cherelle was the one putting pressure on the White House.
