A'ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark's partner both honored—who's the bigger game-changer in women's basketball?

Much like her NCAA days, Caitlin Clark is breaking record after record. In one of the games against the Chicago Sky on Saturday, Clark hit a career-high 31 points with 12 assists. Thus, becoming the first rookie in the WNBA to have 30+ points and 10+ assists in a single game. She is also the only guard in the W to have 12 double-doubles in a single season. All this has catapulted Clark to new heights. And commemorating her achievements, the W honored her with the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the second time in a row. But alas, fans couldn’t control themselves from expressing their opinion.

“Kelsey gets no respect,” a fan commented. Kelsey Mitchell and Clark are regarded as the best backcourt players this season. Mitchell averaged 27.75 points during the last week along with 4.5 rebounds per game. In her latest outing against the Dallas Wings, Mitchell hit a commendable 36 points, and hence, the fans felt that she doesn’t get what she deserves.

Meanwhile, Clark earned the award last week from 15 August to 25th August. Fever’s rookie averaged a whopping 25 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds in the 3 games played in that duration. The Fever won 2 games and lost one. Meanwhile, this time, Clark averaged an exceptional 24.3 points with 9 assists and 5 rebounds per game, which has led the Fever to win in four games.

Clark with this achievement joined A’ja Wilson as the only other player in the W this season to have two back-to-back conference title games. Wilson had achieved the feat in the Western Conference when she averaged 36.3 points with 13 rebounds and 3 blocks per game from 26th August to September 1. Other than that, Wilson also has May, June, and July Western Conference Player of the Month awards this W season. As for Mitchell’s contribution, a lot of admirers advocated for her.

Fans want Kelsey Mitchell to get the award

“Great, but Kelsey should get one too!” another fan started. The emergence of Mitchell has ignited hopes of the Fever fans to make it to the playoffs. Plus, on a few occasions, Mitchell has proven to be a better scorer than Clark. Therefore, as per fans, Mitchell too deserved to win the award.

“Absolutely deserved and I’m sure the assists put her on top, but Kelsey is a huge part of this!! 👏👏,” another netizen stated that while Clark has significantly more assists than Mitchell, the latter too deserved the award considering her average of 19 points per game this season.

“@kelz_hoop just know we see you and you both deserve this one 💯,” another fan tagged Mitchell opining that she too deserved to be a part of this. Mitchell is currently being regarded as the best backcourt player along with Clark. Hence, the admirer felt that Mitchell too should have been honored.

“Kelsey Mitchell better get player of the month,” another fan stated that Mitchell should bag player of the month. Mitchell averages an incredible 26.7 points per game this month and can sweep the monthly award.

“she average everything more than kelsey besides points yall🤦🏽‍♂️,” another fan stated that Clark averaged more than Mitchell except in points. While Clark averages 18.7 points per game this season, Mitchell averages 19 points per game. But, where Clark outsmarts Mitchell is her assists and rebounds average of 8.4 and 5.6, respectively.

Hopefully, fans will be satisfied if Mitchell wins this award. And perhaps, Mitchell would be happy to get so much support from the internet.
