Did Angel Reese's bond with T-Spoon cost the Chicago Sky their head coach?

With Teresa Weatherspoon getting fired from Chicago Sky after just one season, the rumor mill is churning faster than ever. Some believe that the star rookie Angel Reese might be the reason for T-Spoon’s dismissal. Others hint that maybe favoritism played a part in her firing. However, there’s another speculation; this time, it is directly related to Angel’s future in the league.

Ever since Reese was spotted hanging out with Weatherspoon in New York during the recent Lynx vs. Liberty game, fans have taken to social media. One fan noted, Angel leaving Chicago as soon as her rookie contract is up indicating that her bond with T-Spoon could influence her career decisions.

This reunion comes right after Liberty legend’s unexpected firing, and there’s no doubt that Reese has been one of her biggest supporters. After the news broke, the Sky star expressed her feelings along with a bunch of pictures.

“I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me,” she said. The young star even had told WGN News post-Olympic break, “She knows it’s not gonna be easy. This is her first year, too. So, we kinda have to give her some grace.”

Sadly enough, the franchise had other plans. Well, it boils down to communication issues and her inexperience as a coach. With the Sky finishing with a disappointing 13-27 record this season, the officials had to make some big decisions.

However, other reports raise questions about favoritism and whether it impacted the team culture, ultimately costing T-Spoon her job.
