The 7th overall WNBA draft pick in the 2024 class couldn’t have asked for a better start to her professional career. Not only has Angel Reese put the Chicago Sky on the roadmap of a possible play-off, but her individual accolades have also taken a historic route in her debut season. Now, she has a chance to add another feather to her cap by becoming a WNBA All-Star as a rookie.
The 3x All-American forward recently interacted with the media to reflect on a number of developments in her career. One of them turns out to be the value of being a WNBA All-Star. “It would mean everything to me to be an All-Star. Obviously, I’m focused on what’s right now. But, coming into the league and just being mentally in a state where I am just trying to have fun. I’m trying to grow and would love for everything to work itself out. Obviously, it would be a blessing for me. But I’m focussed on right now,” Reese told reporters.
Angel Reese currently occupies a position in the top 10 vote-getters for the 2024 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game. The league’s third-leading rebounder is placed at the 7th spot just below two-time All-Star Sabrina Ionescu with a total of 118,490 votes. At the same time, the first position belongs to current WNBA leader A’ja Wilson (217,773 votes). Meanwhile, Reese’s adversary and the Kia WNBA Rookie of the Month for May Caitlin Clark has 216,427 votes, which puts her second.

If these voting trends remain the same, there’s a high possibility we’ll see two rookie starters in the All-Star game. Last year, Clark’s teammate Aliyah Boston became the first rookie in a decade to start in an All-Star game. Apart from Boston, there have been six rookies who have been voted as All-Star starters in league history.
Evidently, these numbers put various speculations to rest. However, the former LSU standout might still have to concern herself with the various non-sport rumors circulating around her.

Recently, a viral post on various social media handles gave rise to a story that states that Angel Reese is facing some “financial turmoil”. This comes after there were reports that the 6 ft 3 in forward lost USD 50 million in her endorsements. Anyhow, there is nothing conclusive about such claims that have come to the surface.
Moreover, the website that featured this story SpaceXMania admitted that the story was made up. Still, it leads to many people believing it to be factual information despite SpaceXMania extending a disclaimer beforehand. The website is a popular platform for providing such satirical and humorous content.
There is no denying that Angel Reese’s opening season as a pro is full of adventures. Nonetheless, fans would be glad that the rookie is not allowing all the noise to affect her game. It will be interesting to see what awaits her next.
