The WNBA is really on the rise. From fans to the media industry, everyone is talking about the whats and hows of women’s professional basketball this season. Amongst them is Fox Sports 1’s sports analyst and former NFL linebacker, Emmanuel Acho. Instead of talking about the golden goose of the league Caitlin Clark, however, he chose to give a compliment to the much-deserving reigning MVP, A’ja Wilson. Nevertheless, the former NFL star apparently made one mistake, and seems like the Clark fans are not ready for it.

Acho has been a voice for women’s sports for some time now. Hence, giving a curve ball to the world, he brought out the 2x WNBA champion A’ja Wilson. He shared how incredible her season was going so far. The 33-year-old shared the tweet with his X followers captioning, Can’t let Caitlin Clark convos overshadow what @_ajawilson22 is doing on the court!” He also added her stats for the last four games.

The Aces superstar is going down in the history books with every passing week. Last night itself, she became the only WNBA player to have 35+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ steals in a game. Despite the video-game-like stat line in every other game, somehow Caitlin Clark grabs the headline.

While Acho just wanted to praise Wilson for her immaculate display, the fans took it the wrong way. The complaint came from fans of both the 2x WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and the 2x National Player of the Year as they wished for a straight compliment for the veteran.

A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark fans make their point

One fan commented how both the players have a lane of their own. They added that they are doing quite well at their individual levels. They also suggested that A’ja Wilson is an established superstar like LeBron James and Caitlin Clark is a generational rookie similar to Victor Wembanyama. The two are quite popular for their efforts on the floor. They also mentioned that both are impeccable hoopers and while King James is Him for a reason, Wemby is too.

“A’ja is Lebron. Caitlin is Wemby. There is enough spotlight for both of them.”

One A’ja Wilson fan joined the comment section to appreciate Acho for talking about the WNBA player who is really making great waves for her team. Surely, the 27-year-old is having one heck of a season so far, averaging a league-leading 27.9 points, along with 12.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.6 blocks. “Thanks for finally broadening the WNBA conversation on top players! A’ja Wilson is killing the game!”

Another Aces fan also chimed in to compliment the 3x WNBA blocks leader. They told everyone that they have been following the hooper since she arrived in the league and are only noticing her improve by the season. Chiney Ogwumike also mentioned the same about A’ja Wilson about how she has been adding more numbers to her stats every year.

“Best in the league!!! Been watching her first 3 years and each year she keeps getting better‼️. Special 💯”

Caitlin Clark fans also did not stay far behind in the comments as they asked the sports analyst to keep the 22-year-old hooper out of this conversation. According to them, Acho could have mentioned how incredible A’ja Wilson is without taking underhanded hits on Clark.

“Come on @EmmanuelAcho. I almost never disagree with your takes, but this one is just rude. You are able to praise A’ja Wilson’s accomplishments without throwing in undeserved digs at Caitlin Clark (who has nothing even to do with this story).”

One more WNBA follower followed suit. They mentioned that as a Clark fan, they are tired of the media always bringing her to things where she does not even belong. As a result, she becomes a problem in everyone’s eyes. They suggested the analyst simply say how A’ja Wilson is having a great year.

“Well speak on her and leave Clark out of it. I love Clark but the media always adds her in everything and then act like she’s the problem. Just say Aja is having a great MVP type year so far.”

Looks like Caitlin Clark, being the hot commodity that she is, will always be a part of everything big and small. However, bringing her in a complimentary post about a possible GOAT in the future does not seem fit. It is good to see that the fans are also reflecting on the same.
