But the thing is–you can’t keep the great ones down for long! The Huskies guard rose from the ashes like a phoenix, and reclaimed her rightful spot as one of the best players in the nation. The road to a natty wasn’t easy, but it meant a lot for Bueckers, as it was her last dance as a Husky. The six-foot-tall point guard is headed to the big leagues and is taking part in the WNBA draft this coming week, and we can’t wait!

It was quite fitting to end on such a high note for Bueckers and Geno Auriemma. Both the UConn head coach and the star player have been catching flak for the last few years for their inability to convert chances into championships. And now that coach Geno has won his twelfth? It’s party time!

The Huskies set out to parade on Sunday, April 13th, touring Connecticut with a fully loaded and heavily guarded party bus. It’s amazing to see the success of hard work and due diligence, and the relaxed nature of players after winning. Until they win, they have the world’s pressure on their head. But now? They can afford to cut loose.

However, fans have pointed out how the WNBA has given a lot more coverage to the UConn star’s victory parade than the rest of the draft class. There have been a number of posts on the W’s official social media about the victory parade, and the NCAA community isn’t taking kindly to it. What are they saying exactly? Let’s find out!

Fans react to WNBA’s excitement over Paige Bueckers’ natty

There’s no doubt that Paige Bueckers will get an extremely warm welcome into the professional league. We have been waiting for her WNBA debut for the last few years, especially after the breakout freshman season that she had. It has been a long few years, but we’re finally gonna see the UConn alum in action.

However, fans weren’t necessarily happy with the way the league built hype around Bueckers and her championship. WNBA, on its official socials, put up videos of Paige Bueckers’ victory parade on Sunday, and the community didn’t react all that well to the frequent UConn features.

As expected, social media went wild after seeing the post Why has the @WNBA posted more about the UConn parade than the incoming draftees I swear this is a set up. 1 post was fine, but they just posted 2 more I’m hoping the coverage for the draftees is better tomorrow.” One fan said on X, while others agreed. “the W admin is highlighting the uconn parade and not the draftees. pack them up.” Another user agreed, telling the WNBA admins to shine the spotlight where it actually matters!

What’s your perspective on:

Is the WNBA's focus on Bueckers overshadowing other talented draftees who deserve the spotlight?

The fact is, fans get sick of seeing the same player all over again. “There’s 15 other WNBA Draft invitees, but nope, you’re going to get UConn parade coverage and you’re going to like it, bud.” Over the last few years, we’ve seen plenty of Bueckers, and it doesn’t make sense for the official WNBA account to be reposting her victory videos multiple times the day before the draft!

One concerned supporter pointed out how the WNBA hasn’t been able to market itself efficiently, even with the growing surge of popularity. It needs to focus on the other draft invitees and their leadup to a professional career as well! “The WNBA is so bad promoting its product I haven’t seen no pre draft content and the draft is tomorrow smh.”

All in all, a fan summed up the situation really well. “Bro idc about no UConn parade what activities the girls doing before the draft.” And it makes sense! There’s a certain sense of fatigue that the WNBA community is facing while looking at the Huskies recently.
