We are soon going to see Napheesa Collier and Brianna Stewart’s Unrivaled in action. But we all know Unrivaled is not the only off-season league that we are looking forward to. Soon after the Unrivaled kicks off, we will be looking at the fourth season of AU Pro Basketball. And what do they have in store this year?

AU Pro Basketball announced their broadcasters and Sheryl Swoopes happens to be among them. One of the most iconic figures in the history of the sport will be sportscasting under ESPN in the upcoming season. Let’s not forget she was the first ever player to be signed by the WNBA, winning four consecutive championships! Her career with the Houston Comets is widely regarded as one of the most successful WNBA tenures.

The three-time WNBA MVP will be hosting the fourth season of AU Pro Basketball games from the 6th of February. She will be sharing her valuable insights and analysis to further enhance the experience of fans. Swoopes has been involved with Athletes Unlimited (AU) since its inaugural season, which makes this move a natural fit.

This can be seen as a sign of Swoopes’ enduring influence on the sport despite the controversies of the past year. In 2024, her comments on the basketball sensation Caitlin Clark ignited conversations across the basketball world. From discounting Clark’s records to doubting her WNBA debut, Swoopes was in the headlines for her opinions. This even led to the Hall of Famer reportedly getting replaced as a sportscaster in the middle of a game once.

Circling back to AU Pro, Sheryl Swoopes has two colleagues in the broadcast team while an in-game reporter provides timely updates on the games. Cindy Brunson and Greg Mescall join Swoopes and Ari Chambers takes care of the reporting side of things.

The Unrivaled League will have three times the number of ex-players sportscasting compared to AU. Candace Parker, Renee Montgomery, and Lisa Leslie are joining the league as broadcasters. All of them have been prominent WNBA personalities of their time and their voice as sportscasters continue to influence the game.

Candace Parker, the two-time WNBA champion can add insights on strategy and the evolution of basketball. Renee Montgomery is a part-owner of the Atlanta Dream but also an ex-WNBA champion. Lisa Leslie is a retired WNBA legend and four-time Olympic gold medalist. Her presence can be crucial in adding historical depth to the commentary. Together, they can be the voice that makes Unrivaled League much more engaging for fans.
