The Las Vegas Aces find themselves in trouble again. However, the timing of the incident could not be worse, as they are in the midst of preparing for the WNBA Finals. Earlier this year, Becky Hammon, the head coach of the Aces, was suspended for two games following the league’s investigation regarding the treatment of the team towards its players. Former Aces forward Dearica Hamby had filed a complaint against Hammon and the franchise for allegedly creating a hostile work environment when the team found out that Hamby was pregnant. With the latest developments in this saga, doesn’t seem like it is ending anytime soon.
The Aces are set to face the New York Liberty in four days’ time.

Hamby filed a complaint on January 21 against the Aces and Becky Hammon. On May 16, the WNBA released a statement saying Becky Hammon was suspended two games without pay and the Aces would lose their 2025 first-round pick for violating the rules of the league.
Months have passed since then, but now Hamby has taken things to court as she has now filed a complaint at the EEOC as per The Washington Post. It is the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has mentioned the incidents with the Aces and now has also put in the complaint that the league did not thoroughly investigate the complaint given by her.
Hammon revealed in an interview in May that Hamby was traded because they were able to get three players in return. It had nothing to do with her pregnancy. For the WNBA, this accusation that the league did not do a proper investigation is a major blow as they are preparing to announce a new expansion team. As for Hammon, it might cause major damage to her reputation.

Hamby alleged that Hammon told her that she was not holding her end of the bargain and that she did not take precautions not to get pregnant. The 2x WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year also mentioned that the team had told her not to get pregnant in the next two years when she was signing her extension with the team.
Hamby revealed that, when Hammon told the 29-year-old about her trade, Hamby asked, ?You?re trading me because I?m pregnant?? two times. To this, Hammon replied, “What do you want me to do??
Becky Hammon revealed that she was close with Hamby, so hearing the trade from her might have felt like a form of betrayal. Hammon has always stood for gender equality. Even when Britney Griner was detained in Russia, Hammon talked about the league not taking quicker action and noted that they would have acted quicker if it were a male athlete. So these allegations have been hard to take in.
