Despite all the adversity, The Las Vegas Aces make the playoffs. A gritty and hard-fought win against the Atlanta Dream on Friday evening ensures that their quest for a three-peat is still alive. While we can conduct a discussion on how their previous campaign is different from the current one, the thing that has remained constant is the dominance of their MVP contender A’ja Wilson.
The 28-year-old for yet another year has been the cream of the crop of the franchise. Courtesy of some monumental exhibitions, A’ja Wilson is set to wrap up her season garnering a 20+ PPG, 9+ RPG, and 2+ BPG statline for the second time. The only player to do so. And this is assured even if she decides to sit idle for the remainder of the season. Apart from Wilson, there are three other players who pulled off something like this once. One of them being her ex-teammate Candace Parker.
So, when this development came to her knowledge, the 3× WNBA champion couldn’t help but extend her admiration to the 2× WNBA MVP. But that wasn’t the only reason behind her immense praise. “It’s unbelievable, it’s so well-deserved,” said Parker in a video message.

“A’ja has dominated for so long. I’m excited to see what the cover looks like. A’ja, I’m so proud of you. It’s amazing to see what you’re doing on and off the court. I can’t wait to get my own cover.”

Seemingly, Wilson scripted history by becoming the first-ever WNBA 2K cover athlete 2 months back. Alongside Celtics star Jason Tatum, she cemented her status as one of the greats of the game. Speaking of the greats, this honor was something that Candace Parker herself was bestowed upon in 2021. On the WNBA 25th anniversary special edition, Parker was chosen as the first WNBA player to grace the cover.
Following this, Wilson wasted no time in reverting back to her emotions for the veteran.

This heartfelt message managed to bring a big smile out of the 2023 Finals MVP. Naturally, she conveyed her honest emotions to the 7× WNBA All-Star. Wilson went on and said, “Thanks Candace, Candace is my dog. I’m so grateful to share the court with her. So this is truly a special moment.”
A’ja Wilson will carry a 99 overall rating in the NBA 2K25. This does not come as a surprise considering the fact that currently, she is on pace to grab her 3rd MVP honor, averaging 27 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per contest.
Certainly, A’ja Wilson has headlined another WNBA season. However, fans would hope that a three-peat perfectly compliments her individual accolade. Only time will tell what the future holds.
