This evening was the ultimate success for Jewell Loyd. Not only did the Storm win a hard-fought battle against Caitlin Clark and Co., but the 5-foot-1 guard also made some impact on the history books. This season, she equaled the 2x WNBA champ, A’ja Wilson for most points in the first half. The Aces star and the Seattle vet both have 21 points on record in the first 20 minutes of a game this season. Apart from this, she also grabbed her 6th overall and 2nd double-double of this season. And despite her showing up and showing out every moment on the floor, she only had the crowd to thank for.

After the win, Jewell Loyd joined an on-court reporter to talk about her performance and the crowd. She said, “It’s hard to play bad in front of this amazing crowd. We knew it was going to be here. We appreciate everyone coming out. We’re not new to this, Seattle always shows out for us. We appreciate that.” She also added, “It’s all about Seattle Storm and the fans, so I appreciate that.”

Talking about her own performance, the offensive menace of Seattle said, “Just trying to get a rhythm, it’s coming. It’s never about them, it’s about us. So, we appreciate you guys coming here and making a statement. We’re ready to play for you guys.” The first-round pick of 2015 also mentioned how getting the jump ball was her favorite moment of all on the list after winning the game. Jewell Loyd truly became the energy that got Seattle across the line every time Fever got to them. Let us look at her performance tonight.

The former Fighting Irish did not just tie the record with A’ja Wilson for 21 points in the first half, she had more things to jot down for herself. In her previous game of the season as well, she dropped 24 points and 4 rebounds. On average in the season so far, she has contributed an average of 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. The Storm has only lost to the 2023 finalists, the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx, so far.

Next, the Storm will host the Washington Mystics again to try and grab another win to balance their W-L account to 3-3. Consequently, their percentage in the standings will also be equal to Chicago Sky’s at .005 currently. With Nika Muhl finally playing for them and Nneka Ogwumike returning after missing 2 games, it will be interesting to see Seattle on the floor with its full convoy.
