A big off-season for Satou Sabally. The Dallas Wings standout has got a lot running of late, from Unrivaled and her future destination in the WNBA to now a potential brand deal speculation in the air. One of the 11 female athletes to sign with the Jordan Brand back in 2021, Sabally’s recent appearance seemed to cloud the partnership.
With a week left for the inaugural Unrivaled season to kick off, Sabally posed alongside her teammate at Phantom, Sabrina Ionescu, for a photoshoot. While the two delivered some adorable snaps, eagle-eyed sneaker enthusiasts had their attention drawn elsewhere. The star forward was seen adorning the Adidas AE 1 instead of a Jordan in the images shared by Unrivaled.
In partnership for 3 years now, Sabally is loudly seen in association with the Jordan brand. Be it joining hands to refurbish a local basketball court in Berlin or enjoying a luxe night out at an event in Paris, it has been visible. The brand also gave the 26-year-old her own Air Jordan 37 Colorway back in 2022. So it was quite a surprise for the sneakerheads and her followers to watch Sabally in the $45 billion worth rival’s collection.

“Could the WNBA star be leaving Jordan Brand for the three stripes? 🤔” Nice Kicks waved the topic through a post on Instagram.

“Sorry @Jumpman23, I’m terrible at keeping secrets … I’m just too excited to hold this in,” Sabally had shared her excitement for adorning the Jump logo after the signing a deal in April 2021. But there have been no big moves of late, adding to the speculations. But with Adidas on the other hand, it wouldn’t be a bad destination for Sabally either, given the brand has announced its commitment to growing women in basketball under the leadership of Candace Parker.
“I wanted to take an innovative approach in how we connect with the best players in the game and empower them in their pursuit of excellence on and off the court,” Parker, President of Adidas women’s basketball shares. After a standout season, Sabally could align with the brand’s strategic push to dominate women’s sports.
It is all a speculation for now though. But if it were to turly hold any hints, it sure proves to be quite the off-season for the former Oregon Duck.

After five seasons with the Dallas Wings, Satou Sabally, on Thursday announced that she wouldn’t be continuing with the franchise any longer. “I’ve already played my last game in Dallas,” she revealed during media availability. “I’ve already communicated with Dallas how grateful I am because they’ve made this a home for me the past years, and I’m working with them together and finding a next home for me.”
The forward averaged 17.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5 assists during her past season’s run with the Wings. Given her size, versitality, and playmaking skills, Sabally will have more than a few interesting landing spots. But the New York Liberty has been a top a exciting prospect. Not only will she be reuniting with her Oregon teammate, Sabrina Ionescu, but we might get to see the Sabally sisters back on the court together, on the same side.
Indian Fever and Las Vegas Aces are two other possibilities. The former of the fans have expressed consistent displeasure with NaLyssa Smith and with Temi Fagbenle drafted to Valkyries, the cries to bring in Sabally have grown louder. With Aces only forward Alysha Clark aged 37 and Kelsey Plum’s future uncertain, the team also makes it to the list.
