The Chicago Sky ended up on the losing side for a third consecutive night. In a back-and-forth battle, the visitors suffered a heartbreaking 83-81 loss at the hands of the Washington Mystics. The result proved to be more frustrating for the team’s No.7 Chennedy Carter who happened to be the team’s top scorer with her tally of 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. However, that wasn’t the only reason that irked her after the game ended. Seemingly, she was also not pleased when the media started to draw comparisons between her and a certain entity from the NBA world.

In the absence of Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter & Dana Evans decided to take on the post-game media queries. Herein, one of the media personnel connected the Sky guard’s playing style to that of 3× NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams. The instance however did not sit right with Carter. “I don’t really like the Lou Williams comparison,” she said.

When questioned about the reason behind the stance, Carter added, “Don’t compare me to him. I don’t think I’m Lou Williams. I don’t need that going out there on Twitter.”

The media personnel seemed to compare Carter’s scoring style to Williams’ who popularly played off the bench and set NBA bench record for scoring as a reserve – 13,396 out of 15,593. While Carter’s reason for denying the comparison remains unclear, she has been a crucial starter for the Sky through the season, averaging 12.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 8 games.

She remained instrumental in Chicago today, almost overcoming the 15-point deficit from the first quarter.

A valiant show by Chennedy Carter

Chicago Sky looked out of sorts since the very beginning. Not only did they miss their first 8 shots in the opening quarter, but failing to convert the final two free throws of the game also cost them eventually. Still, Carter was the pick of the lot as she came off the bench and delivered a game-high score of 16 points from the Sky locker room.

Moreover, the 4,200 people present at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington DC witnessed a 66.66% efficiency from her in the field goals and a 50% conversion from the free throw line.

She reflected on her performance as well in her media address after the game. Carter said, “Getting my legs under me just making sure that I’m getting a lot of shots up. Really just trying to learn the offense so I can figure out where I can be effective.”
