A’ja Wilson had a historic 2022 season, where she bagged not only the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) title but also the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOTY) award. To top things off, the Las Vegas Aces, after making it to the WNBA Finals for the third time in franchise history, won against the Connecticut Suns 78-71 in Game 4 of the Finals.
Months following the victory, the official account of the WNBA posted an exclusive interview of A’ja Wilson on the official WNBA account. Although Wilson’s on-court performance had already cemented her place among the league’s top stars, this interview provided more insight into the person behind the basketball prowess.
During the interview, she was asked to choose between Kobe Bryant?s ‘Love and Basketball’ and Michael Jordan and LeBron James? ‘Space Jam.’ The WNBA champion made her choice without thinking twice: Space Jam.
The first ‘Space Jam’ film had its release in 1996 and had the beloved Looney Tunes characters working with basketball legend Michael Jordan in a crucial game to rescue their lives. In the span of 25 years, ‘Space Jam’ has become a franchise that has withstood the test of time.

Fast forward to 2021, LeBron James teamed up with a squad of Looney Tunes to save his son who was abducted by a malicious artificial intelligence that has abducted his children. Both movies garnered a box office collection of $413.9 million collectively.
Meanwhile, Wilson, who prefers to play home games will kick off the WNBA Finals at home, in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty emerged as the contenders for the 2023 WNBA Finals following the dramatic conclusion of the 2023 WNBA Semifinals. The top-seeded and defending champion Las Vegas Aces have proven their superiority by sweeping the Dallas Wings in three games. A’ja Wilson, the team’s key player helped the Aces greatly as they advanced to the Finals, ending the night with a 64-61 score on September 29.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the court, as the only founding franchise without a championship, the second-seeded New York Liberty have made an incredible run to the Finals. They have been trying to win their first WNBA championship since their last trip to the Finals in 2002.
As the 2023 WNBA Finals draw near, all eyes are on the league MVPs, Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson. Having bagged the MVP title in 2022, Wilson stood as a frontrunner in the MVP race alongside Breanna Stewart and Alyssa Thomas. However, it was Breanna Stewart who ended up as the 2023 league MVP.
