Cameron Brink is always seen as a bright WNBA prospect. And, the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award winner justified every college basketball accolade by showcasing her true potential in the initial days of her rookie season. However, the 6 ft 4 in power forward is undergoing tough times on the hardwood which are presenting some concerning questions over her offensive game.

7 and 0. These are the two scores garnered by the former standout in her last two outings. Consequently, this has led to a two-game losing streak for the 3x WNBA champions. Anyhow, Brink going scoreless in a game is a rare occasion, and it does possess some worrying signs for the franchise. Therefore, head coach Curt Miller addressed it with the media and provided a clearer picture of her current form. In the postgame conference Miller said, “We’ve got to take a look at it. Go back and see how we can get her some easier touches and space and opportunities.”

The last few days have resulted in Cameron Brink shooting under 30% in her field goals. In addition to this, in her last three games, she has managed to connect only 1 beyond the arc shot. On the other hand, there are a total of 26 personal fouls next to her name in the month of June.

Nonetheless, the 2017 WNBA Basketball Executive of the Year showed faith in her abilities. He further added, “Cams got great days ahead of her. She continues to impact us. But we need to supplement some scoring. It wasn’t her night offensively.”

Indeed, the numbers of Cameron Brink in June reflect the struggles she has been going through since the beginning of the Commissioner’s Cup.

Cameron Brink having a horrid June

Apart from a double-double against the Dallas Wings, the dynamic No. 22 of the LA Sparks has ended her fixtures in single digits. In the month of June, she started in 6 games which amounts to a scoring average of 5.5 points per game. This is the lowest among the names in contention for this year’s Rookie of the Year.

A similar story is there on the defensive front as well. Apparently, the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year is able to grab only 5.83 rebounds per game. The numbers are worse for her in the assists column with her dishing out only 7 assists in her last 6 games.

Hardly anyone would argue that Cameron Brink has what it takes to turn things around for her. Fans will be hoping to see her contribute on a more significant scale that can eventually bring positive results for the team. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for this talented rookie.
