Despite the fanfare and a record-breaking season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark remains connected to her Iowa roots. A couple of weeks ago, she returned to her old stomping ground and was reunited with her former teammates Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall. Her trip to the Hawkeyes meant she had to spend some time away from her boyfriend Connor McCaffery, who was busy preparing for his coaching debut at the Butler Bulldogs.
During her first WNBA off-season, Clark is trying to spend time with her loved ones and even showed up at the Golden Gala, an annual fundraiser for the Pacers Foundation, with McCaffery. But with McCaffrey occupied with duties in Indi and Clark’s planned visit to Iowa meant they had to be away from each other.
Yet, despite this conflict, Clark was excited to return to her alma mater. She reunited with Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall for a chit-chat with Jada Gyamfi and talked about how she couldn’t wait to be back.

“It’s been nice to have a little break and was a fun season but I’ve been crossing off the days to get back to Iowa City. I’m happy to be here with everybody. I’ve literally been counting the days,” The Fever No. 22 shared on the Taco-Bout Network on Monday on an episode of Fresh Tawk.
Clark spent four years at the Hawkeyes and led the team to a conference title during her time in Iowa. Her performances on the court led to her gaining immense popularity and becoming the No.1 Draft pick earlier this year. On her visit, Clark along with others was honored by the Iowa Hawkeyes during the game against Northwestern on October 26.
During a second-quarter timeout, Caitlin Clark, Katie Martina, and Gabbie Marshall appeared on the court among other members of the 2023/24 class. They received rings celebrating their 2024 Big Ten championship victory and a memorable run to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.
Sharing her excitement further, Clark added, “Last Thursday, I was like, okay, one more week, and then next Thursday, I’m there. Once Monday passed, I was fired up!”
From making TikTok videos to chit-chatting on Gyamfi’s podcast ‘Fresh Tawk,’ she is enjoying every minute of catching up with her besties. Since leaving college, she, Martin, and Marshall have all taken different paths—Clark’s lighting up the WNBA, Kate’s been making waves with the Las Vegas Aces, and Gabbie’s pursuing her education. Yet, even with all their unique journeys, these three are tighter than ever.
The Fever star has got nothing but love for her old teammates and vice-versa. They are often seen expressing their love through social media. And now they are finally reunited.
However, Clark’s boyfriend, Connor, isn’t in the city. In fact, he is in Indianapolis, kicking off a whole new chapter himself as an assistant coach for Butler University. And this move adds a bit of conflict. With him now part of Butler in the Atlantic 10, and Iowa in the Big 10, they could very well be rivals at some point in the tourney. This could pose a dilemma for Clark as she may have to go against her former college to back her boyfriend’s team.
She’s ready to support both colleges, but you can tell her heart is still firmly with Iowa. But that isn’t keeping the reigning ROTY from supporting her boyfriend.

Caitlin Clark shows up to support Connor McCaffery
The basketball star traveled to Indianapolis to see Connor’s team in action in the season opener against the Missouri State Bears on Monday, November 4. The Bulldogs emerged victorious with a 72-65 win. With that first dub under his belt, his coaching journey got off to an incredible start, and the reigning National Player of the Year was right there on the sidelines.
Also, as soon as Butler’s NCAA season opener against Missouri State rolled around, she was spotted in the stands at Hinkle Fieldhouse. She was joined by Connor’s brother, Jack McCaffery on the left, and to her right sat Margaret McCaffery, Connor’s mother.
