A recent Bronze medal winner, Dearica Hamby continues to add sparks to her career. The player from the Los Angeles team replaced her teammate Cameron Brink to book a spot in the Paris Olympics. The rookie suffered an injury, as she tore her ACL, ruling her out of the W and 3×3 competition. “Everything I do is for my kids, so the fact that she can see and experience this at her age means a lot to me,” Hamby said after winning the Bronze.
The mother-daughter duo will be taking over Miami in January. After a break of 2 weeks, since their last player announcement of Angel Reese, the Unrivaled announced Dearica Hamby. “DEARICA IS UNRIVALED👑 11/30✅ WHO’S NEXT👀.” The 2x WNBA 6th Woman of the Year replied to the tweet. “Mama and Maya bout to take on Miami 😏 who do you think is next??? 👀.”
Before her announcement, a video clip with a hint of Sparks was released by Unrivaled. Many fans assumed it to be Cameron Brink. However, the rookie’s injury timeline isn’t clear yet. Thus, the lack of surety from fans makes the next announcement even more interesting.

Her performance in the Olympics was brilliant and she would hope to continue the form to the W. Hamby tied with Tiffany Hayes for the most rebounds in the 3×3 competition with 44. Plus she also was tenth in total blocks with three rejections across nine games. Even in the bronze medal match, she contributed with a team-high 6 rebounds.
Fans can’t wait for Mama D to shine in her latest adventure
Dearica Hamby’s above-mentioned stats prove how adaptable she is to the 3×3 rules. Speaking about that a fan wished her to keep performing as Unrivaled is also a 3×3 league. “Congrats! You got this 3X3 thang!” Hamby was part of the WNBA team at the All-Star weekend, which defeated Team USA.

During that period, Hamby praised the rookie who she refers to as her child. The bond between Angel Reese and Dearica Hamby was highlighted when both of them spoke highly about each other. And a fan was excited with the idea of them reuniting. “Mama D and Angel are reunited 🙂↕️❤️.”
At the time Hamby also commented about the bond they shared, calling herself Mama 5 and Reese Mini 5. The Sky rookie also commentated and called Hamby Mama D. And with Reese guaranteed an ownership role in the league, there could be a possibility of them teaming together. “Mama D and her baby on the same team❤️. How about that 👀.” Although fans are happy, there is a WNBA who was unhappy with Dearica Hamby taking away Reese.
Nneka Ogwumike of Seattle Storm playfully joked towards Hamby to focus on the Olympics rather than Reese. Keeping the family dynamics in mind, a fan suggested the family could be reunited as the Storm player could be the next announcement. “We need Nneka to join the the whole family will be set since your baby girl Angel is already part 🤭.”

Even though, Unrivaled League hasn’t added the official graphic for the collegiate superstar, she is already confirmed to join the league in Jan 2025. “I am confused. Isn’t this 12? I thought Paige was 11!” It is a fair question from a fan, but the #11 spot could have been decided a long time ago. Possibly before Paige Bueckers was announced. So does that make her the next announcement?
