America is celebrating one of its most important holidays in remembrance of its soldiers. The federal holiday falls on the last Monday of May to acknowledge the trials and tribulations of American soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. And Dawn Staley and her close associate Lisa Boyer recently came forward to remind every American of their moral responsibility.

Boyer took to the social networking platform X and tweeted the duties that bind every American today. The New York-born brought attention to the fact that it was not a day just to rejoice but also to pay homage to the martyrs. “As we all enjoy this holiday w friends and family – please remember the men/women WHO ACTUALLY PAID for this day w their very lives!! The ultimate sacrifice for the freedom our USA!  God bless each of them. And may God protect those who stand in harms way today.  GOD SPEED…,” tweeted Boyer.

Meanwhile, Staley too chipped in thanking the soldiers and being an invaluable support to their families. She spoke of how the citizens of the country could honor the martyrs and in turn, return the favor. “On this day, it is a true honor to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice…..a thank you for serving is not quite enough but if we all join in it just may allow the families who are left to bare their loss a moment to feel our love. #MemorialDay,” Staley enunciated.

Memorial Day is an important day to visit the cemetery and graves of the fallen American soldiers. The citizens commemorate their achievements by placing flags and flowers on their graves. The first instance of such a mourning day dates back to May 30, 1868, and it also marks the beginning of summer. The day went through a change in 1971 when Congress marked the last Monday of every May as the apt moment for a Memorial Day holiday. 

Therefore, Staley and Boyer did a tremendous task in bringing attention to the soldiers and their families. Meanwhile, Boyer is known to be a family-like close associate of Staley and was called “wife” by Staley herself.

Dawn Staley calls Lisa Boyer her “wife”

Boyer is known as Staley’s wife since the latter had once posted a tweet on X after the duo had completed her 10 years in South Carolina. Notably, Boyer started as assistant head coach for the Gamecocks in 2008, the same year when Staley was hired as the head coach. As for Boyer, she became the associate head coach in 2010. Staley had tweeted on Boyer completing 10 years that they were like an “old married couple” who will “grow old together.” Since then Boyer has been speculated to be just like a family member of Staley. Though there is no official confirmation on Staley’s marriage status, Boyer sure seems to occupy a warm corner in Staley’s heart, being the robin to her Batman.

“Boyer!! We are that old married couple who started young and will grow old together. You put the ride and die in the RIDE and DIE! Proud of you Boyer. Thanks for sacrificing your career to help to me serve our teams, program, university and state. What a ride?!,” Staley had remarked.

It was great for the fans to see two of their favorite coaches honor the martyrs and take steps in order to commemorate the day. With this, the only thing the country can wish for right now is that the soldiers get their due.
