Does Caitlin Clark's presence boost Connor McCaffery's game, or is it just a sweet gesture?

Before flying off to Florida for her exciting golfing adventures, Caitlin Clark is finding ways to be with her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery.  McCaffery, now a coaching assistant with the Butler Bulldog, has Clark cheering him on at games, as she balances her own commitments with the Indiana Pacers—male counterparts to her Indiana Fever team. At one such Pacers game, she showed her support courtside alongside her boyfriend, wearing a white sweatshirt that captured fans’ attention.

On Sunday night, during the game between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks, the ROTY was there to cheer for the home side at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena. Sitting in Tyrese Haliburton’s courtside with McCaffery, she wore a $469 off-white sweatshirt for $469. Looks like it didn’t cost Clark much to rekindle the warm bond with McCaffery, who must have been missing her when she was prepping up for the golfing event.

When the camera panned at her during the third quarter, and the 22-year-old was featured on the big board, she waved her hand as fans cheered for her. As the previous Iowan clapped for her, the generational player was seen conversing and laughing with those sitting next to her. However, that wasn’t going to last long.

Clark, along with Annika Sorenstam and Nelly Korda, is set to participate in the Pro-Am tournament on Wednesday. A day before that, on Tuesday, she will mark her presence at the Women’s Leadership Summit to celebrate sisterhood with all those who have soared in their respective fields. Hence, she might have to leave Indiana soon. But before that, McCaffery is prepping up for his big game.

McCaffery has been a basketball development coordinator for the Indiana Pacers since the 2023-24 season. But later, he got an offer from the Butler Bulldogs, which are situated at the Hinkle Fieldhouse in the same city, Indianapolis. Hence, from the beginning of the NCAA season, Clark has been present for the Butler games.

Have an interesting take?

During their season opener against Missouri State, the Fever star went viral for her oddly funny expressions as a spectator. She then attended the next game against Austin Peay, and this time, her snaps made rounds as she was seen donning prescription glasses. So when the Bulldogs clash against Western Michigan at the Hinkle Fieldhouse, there is a chance that No. 22 will be a supportive partner to McCaffery.

After winning their exhibition game against Illinois Wesleyan, the Hinkle Fieldhouse team won their season opener but lost their second game to Peay. Hence, whether McCaffery and his mentees can set the tone right for them remains to be seen. Meanwhile, despite the result, Clark will always encourage her boyfriend even if she is not present on the court today.
