DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith: Is this the most heartwarming WNBA couple we've seen?

Boasting feelings of love has never been something most WNBA players feel shy about. Take DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith for instance. Both might be rivals on the court, but they’re adorable and supportive of each other off the court. Just like when NaLyssa Smith wasn’t getting much playing time for the Indiana Fever, Carrington extended her support and encouraged her girlfriend in the tough time by dropping a comment over social media. Now, days after the couple is once again romancing over the internet, proving that love can conquer all, even in the competitive world of the WNBA.

Recently, the Fever forward Smith found a moment to acknowledge her relationship with her partner as she retweeted a post on X which saw her and Carrington’s pictures side by side. She wrote, “flyest couple in tha world”. And then what next? It seems DiJonai Carrington was all hearts for her girlfriend as she quickly commented on Smith’s tweet. “damn you look good wtf… 🥹🥹,” replied the Connecticut Sun guard.

The relationship between these players began back in their college days at Baylor, where they were teammates. When Carrington was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2021 and Smith joined the Indiana Fever in 2022, their careers took them in different directions, but their bond remained strong. Though they faced a rough patch last year, they worked through it, and now their relationship is stronger than ever.

Also, this is not the first time when the couple has showered love for each other on social media. There have been similar instances in the past which reflects how deep their relationship is as they never miss any opportunity to appreciate or lend support for each other. Let’s talk about the other similar instances.

DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith’s past romance over internet

Coming back from the Olympic break, Smith saw less playing time as her coach, Christie Sides, has tweaked her team’s lineups. While she had averaged 25.5 minutes in the season, Smith got just 10 minutes on the court in the game against the Minnesota Lynx last week. Well, her partner once again came with a much-appreciated gesture that intended to boost her up.

DiJonai Carrington dropped a motivational quote on Smith’s Instagram post. “Never denied only delayed. Everything is gods timing,” Carrington wrote. Smith has averaged 11 points per game this season and is again getting enough of the playing time for the Fever. And it doesn’t stop here, the relationship is perfectly balanced as in another instance, it was NaLyssa Smith who was all praise for Carrington after her performance against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Smith tweeted, “nah my shorty too tuff” as Carrington’s 19 points led the Sun to victory. And as soon it caught the Sun star’s attention, she retweeted, “awwwww babeee”. Their relationship, built on mutual love and support since their college days, continues to flourish despite the challenges of professional competition.
